Something I’ve been thinking about doing is getting together on weekends with a bunch of guys and playing sports. I love sports, loved playing, love watching. So I want to incorporate more sports into my life. I’ve gotta use it before I lose it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mentally, it’s really a challenge to stay focused. That has always been the hardest, most crucial element to my weight loss. Stay focused people. Stay focused!

I hate the cold. I can’t go out. And with no gym membership, I’ve really got to get creative indoors at home.

But yes, I’ve been lazy. VERY lazy. BUT! my food decisions have been awesome and I continue to slim even though the my winter exercise is not as wild and crazy as it was in the warmer months.

Food choices. Focus on good food choices.

Hmm..Exercise maybe good for me,thanks for your advise.

  3. YobigmikeNo Gravatar says:

Yo Iz ,welcome back. I love sports too and I’m finally getting back to that workout mentality. Honestly, if the gym that I joined didn’t have a b-ball court, I probably would have gotten bored with doing plain cardio. I guess that’s the NY in us…….

  5. I’m happy with my success so far, its taking me longer than I thought. But I’m slowly getting there week by week.
This time of year is hard to stay focused and motivated. Yesterday it was snowing, and I had to go in my home gym which is located in my back garden. Boy was it cold in there, I could see my breath it was that cold. You have got to look at exercise as a job, you need to work a job to pay the bills and you need to exercise to stay fit and healthy.
Exercise wise I’m doing brilliantly, I just need to step up my game on the eating side of things.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you all!

  6. Cold? I guess I am lucky to live in San Diego, CA county. I know what you mean because although it never rains in California, you know, it pours naturally.

I train indoors at home about half of the time by hitting the bag, doing katas and dumbbells.

I like the getting together thing and I am starting to get light enough to do some sparring. I guess I’ll try to get into the karate school as part of my regular workout this year.

I hope everyone has a plan B incase their normal workout can’t happen because as you know consistency is key.

    Happy Holidays Israel

  7. BrianNo Gravatar says:

I know what you mean. Treats are everywhere at work and home. Too cold to do much outside (in Colorado, anyway), and it is pitch black outside at 5 p.m.

My tip: lower your goals to something more doable during the holidays, such as damage control.

I’m not passing on treats, for example, but I’m still logging my calories, even when the list is embarrassing to read.

I’ve skipped some workouts or gone a little easy on myself, but I haven’t quit altogether.

I consider the holidays an all-out assault on a health plan, and in the past it is around this time of year that I’ve fallen off the wagon. This year, I’ve cut myself some slack in order to not fall too far backwards. I figure a brief plateau is better than depriving yourself to a point where you say “screw it,” and go crazy.

  8. avoid junk foods as far as possible and drink water before and after lunch. increase your consumption of water…

  9. RyanNo Gravatar says:

First at all, Don’t eat (anything) TOO much.
    enough is a smart word.

Let’s make any physic activity and pick our health Up right now.

  10. Survivor2002No Gravatar says:

Hey, Iz! Glad to see you’re still at it…Hope you and the family had a great Christmas. My strategy for dealing with weight loss is to “change up the game” a bit and try something different. I have started taking intro classes at a CrossFit affiliate where I live. The focus on exercises here is more about form and function, rather than how much you can lift how many times. I have a feeling it’s going to be the toughest routine I’ve ever tried, but if I stick with it, it will also be the most ultimately rewarding. I’ll be posting more about it on my Facebook pages…Stay tuned!

  11. It’s definitely tough to stay focused on weight loss during the holidays.
Two pieces of advice for success.

Minimize your intake of those fattening holiday desserts. Minimize is the key word. It may be impossible to eliminate them altogether, but a couple bites will satisfy the sweet cravings without packing in the calories.

Also, find a fun way to work out. Getting fit doesn’t have to mean long, boring workouts at the gym. Go chuck some snowballs around if it gets you moving!

    • CoZoPhilNo Gravatar says:

Tried the snowball route, slipped on the ice and fractured a bone near the elbow – ouch! (don’t worry, I won’t sue – I never was very good on ice. strange that I was generally good at sports). So was back indoors for a while.

Happy to be out running again now the snow and ice has gone.

Actually, the exercises I do indoors do seem to have been pretty effective at stopping my stomach size getting out of hand, but i do feel better now that I am out and about again.

  12. BillNo Gravatar says:

One of my favorite tricks is very basic and very effective. I write my weight loss goal down every single morning. Then I read it, I imagine how I’m going to look and feel when I achieve my goal, and I bring as much positive emotion to the experience as I can.

I find that this helps me stay focused when I keep returning to my goal every morning. Even if I totally fell off the wagon the night before and ate cookies, cake, egg nog, etc, I just get up the next day and get right back on track. The more often I do this, the more I find myself consistently dedicated to achieving my goal and making healthy choices in support of it.

  13. great post on weight loss program. Every one follow there own way for weight loss. Some guys do hard work and sweat up in Gym but some smart people take weight loss diet with or without daily exercise

  14. It’s getting tougher as I get older, almost 35. I used to be able to drop 10 pounds pretty easily but now I have to put in a lot of effort just to MAINTAIN my weight. It sucks. Writing everything down is a good tip, and a real eye opener. Gives you solid evidence of what’s going into your body and which meals are doing the most damage.

  15. Muvee TiveeNo Gravatar says:

I really like to exercise because im now getting fat and drink some juice as always

  18. Great advise
    Ill try and follow it

    Nice one

  19. To deal with my weight issues, I am starting a blog and pledging to lose 40 pounds in 8 months!

Who is with me for the journey?! ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. I think you should get a basketball game going with the fellas. Don’t be surprised if you can only run one full court, you will be winded!

  21. BillNo Gravatar says:

I congratulate you on your weight loss. As for myself, as someone saddled with Parkinson’s disease who struggles to make it through day to day without falling on and killing one of my dogs, I don’t really give much thought to my own weight. They say I should. But it’s hard to exercise when just walking from the living room to the kitchen is an ordeal.

    Stay well!

  22. I try to get an out an exercise as much as possible, however its sooo cold up here and ive started to procrastinate more. I basically go into hibernation in winter, and then start to work out more in the summer

  23. Hemm …….. seemed willingness is the key to success for any therapy. I am delighted with the sports pool because the pool we had to move automatically members of our body as a whole. Thanks for this great content.

  24. HopRSSNo Gravatar says:

Hm…. I am running every day 5km on mornings.. In summer cycling, in winter do XC skiing, it keeps me fit ๐Ÿ˜›

  25. ChrisNo Gravatar says:

The cold kills my aerobic exercise. Can’t stand treadmills and I don’t have lot of motivation for the elliptical. Sports is a great way to keep moving. I’m still hitting the weights though and hopefully will start running again in the spring.

  26. PeterNo Gravatar says:

It’s really nice and interesting blog and helpful for every fitness loving person. Here i must share that exercise and avoiding spicy food helps me lot to loose weight. I join abworkouts.me and follow the instructions and i find great help.

  27. KyleNo Gravatar says:

I’ve discovered my success in my weight loss has been my overall food consumption. Eating correct portions of healthy organic foods has helped a tremendous amount since I already have an extremely good fat burning workout. I’ve also discovered the health food Mila (proprietary blend of Chia seeds). Stuff works wonders for your overall health. Give it a look over and check out the article about it on findmefit.com.

  28. Maya AdaNo Gravatar says:

I only left bad eating habits and now i am getting my desired results.

  29. Though I’m not dealing with “weight issues”… I’m still dealing with the winter, the holidays, some peer pressure and all that well needed nonsense.

How do you get over it? Simple. You just get your a$$ in gear and go. Seriously, you have 28,000 days on this planet from the time you were born. YOU DONT HAVE TIME to sit and ponder why “…weight loss have to be so difficult, yet really simple?”

you need to get up and go or before you know it, things will be too late. That’s what gets ME out of the house and that’s what gets my clients moving. Stop thinking about it too much and just get it done.

  30. Andrew ScottNo Gravatar says:

Hi Israel, How are you keeping, I hope that you had a nice Christmas and New years.

I am going to be heading out on Tuesday’s with some mates to play badminton, it’s great way to have a blast and a workout at the some time.

    Take care,
    Andrew

  31. The only way to get your mind off the things which you do not want to think about is to find something else to focus upon. If you feel in danger of succumbing to bad habits then it is important to look for the things which you will enjoy and which will keep you occupied – its back to the old “out of sight, out of mind”…Having a supportive environment will always be helpful, and anything which gets you out of the house and exercising as a by product of having fun with friends will do the trick.

  32. laura ludwigNo Gravatar says:

blogging has been the biggest help for me – and in mid december i did hire a trainer and she sure works me hard – especially when you have tons of weight to lose – my skinny trainer can’t relate ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. EgahNo Gravatar says:

guess it is not easy to loss weight. i only loss 3 Kg in past long 3 years. what has been trouble me is eating at sleep hours, since i had difficulty to sleep with an empty stomach.

  34. JustinNo Gravatar says:

This holiday season I lost 12 lbs from early November to January 1st! All I did was change my eating habits, forced upon me due to a case of mild gastritis. I cut out the Cuban milk and coffee and those big lunches and voila, I’m still losing weight. I’m 256 right now and I’ve gotta’ get down to 210. Should be a breeze now until my stomach completely heals. After that, who knows?

  35. Though I was never “fat” I worked out and transformed about 25 lbs of fat into about 15 lbs of muscle, just by becoming disciplined enough to be active 7 days a week. That doesn’t mean that I was in the gym pumping iron every day, but I always do something to get that heart rate up each day.

  36. kylieNo Gravatar says:

I’ve tried to take a healthy approach to weight loss and body image. I think it’s really important to exercise, eat right and just love the skin you’re in. I’ve trying new exercises and looking for helpful healthy living tips. I found a book called “Looking Good Naked” and I’m hoping that it can suggest useful ways to improve my lifestyle and improve my health and appearance.

  37. DanyNo Gravatar says:

I just look at the mirror and ask my self what can i do to change this

  38. john tanNo Gravatar says:

Am from sunny Singapore – its freaking hot the whole year.. any also gaining weight the whole year too. Growing old with less metabolism rate, i tend to gain very easily (used to eat endlessly and not gain weight – but those days are long gone).

I cut down of sugar intake – particularly can drinks like coke, pepsi.. and take more of fresh juices.

    It helps…

    Have a great day!!

  39. Once you start relaxing, eating, its hard to stop! That food is so damn yum!
