100 Burpee Challenge at 281 Lbs in 20 Minutes

100 Burpee Challenge at 281 Lbs in 20 Minutes

I’ve been on a burpee kick for a few months now. Having started with only five burpees on day one, I’ve come a long way. A few weeks ago I wrote about how I did 105 burpees one night. I wasn’t able to record it since it was a spontaneous thing, but this time around I set out to record myself pumping out 100 burpees. I weigh 281 lbs, so this isn’t easy. Don’t try this at home folks. Seriously. You could get some kind of heart attack. Obese individuals like myself should be very careful when performing such strenuous exercise. Don’t worry about me, I’m a freak when it comes to these things so I’m safe…

The Michael Vick Workout

The Michael Vick Workout

So let’s tackle the burning question every owner and fan has: can Michael Vick perform on the gridiron? Does Mike Vick still have the Michael Jackson moves that made him a moon-walking lethal weapon on Sundays? Or have his football skills eroded? Can he throw the ball nowadays…is he still fast like [...]

Coming Out of the Dieting Closet

Coming Out of the Dieting Closet

By far, my least favorite of all the filthy, scandalous four-letter words in the English language is “DIET”. No other word has the ability to make my toes curl and skin crawl like the dreaded “D” word. Tell me that the idea of having to go on a “diet“, or the memory of having [...]

How To Do Burpees in Bad Form at 284 Lbs

How To Do Burpees in Bad Form at 284 Lbs

Did you ever want to learn how to do a burpee? How about I show you how to do a burpee with bad form. Then maybe you can work on the right form. I’ll post a video of me doing some burpees in good form later this week. I’ve been doing them for several months now, ever since I was 300+ lbs. I decided to make a quick video to see what I looked like performing a burpee. The video doesn’t lie and although my left pec is hurt as I’m doing them, I won’t use that as an excuse. I noticed some major flaws in my technique.

Weekly Weigh-In: Another 3.4 lbs Lost

Weekly Weigh-In: Another 3.4 lbs Lost

I lost another 3.4 lbs this past week making my total weight loss so far 66.6 lbs lost. That’s a weird number..666. This past week was a good one. I was able to get myself on video performing a chin up, some burpees, and I’ve begun wearing clothes that I haven’t worn for years. The weight loss chart isn’t looking bad either, the downward trend continues for another week! YES!

Chin Up Challenge Attempt at 284 Lbs.

Chin Up Challenge Attempt at 284 Lbs.

About 30 days ago, June 23rd 2009, I challenged myself. I was to perform one unassisted chin up by August 1st. I recorded myself not being able to perform a chin up, as proof. I then did some band assisted chin ups, three reps, for the first time ever. Not being able tp perform a chin up was pretty embarrassing, but the way I look at it is that I have a ton of room for growth. And I will show growth!

Getting Back Up…..

Getting Back Up…..

Like most people, I find myself wanting to lose some inches and weight. So I went back into the gym, I am watching what I am eating, and I even hired a personal trainer. But with all of this, I still found myself wanting a little something more to kick my ass. So I decided to join a class called Bootcamp.

America is in a Depression but Whose Fault is that?

America is in a Depression but Whose Fault is that?

You may have just read the title to this blog and are left wondering “What does this have to do with weight loss?” Well my answer to that question is, “It has everything to do with it!” Did you know that 2/3 of America is considered obese? Which is not surprising being that we no longer have to fight, hunt, and kill to get our food. No not at all, we live in a time of fast food and microwaves. It’s sad to say but we as humans try to find the easiest and fastest but yet not so beneficial way to do everything.

Band Assisted Chin Ups and Bodyweight Row Challenges

Band Assisted Chin Ups and Bodyweight Row Challenges

About a month ago I called out Muata, from Mr. Low Body Fat, to a fitness challenge. Initially it was supposed to be that I had to perform one full chin up by a certain date. That’s when I set up to work on my chins ups and pull ups. For the life of me I could not pull myself up. At 300+ lbs (mostly fat), it’s pretty much impossible for anyone to this. There are those few exceptions that can do it but they mainly have massive amounts of muscle that comprise their 300 lb frames. I am not a strongman, I’m just a normal fat guy.

Weekly Weigh-In: 3.6 lbs Lost

Weekly Weigh-In: 3.6 lbs Lost

I lost 3.6 lbs after another week of wondering if I would lose any weight at all. I went through the past 7 days thinking that I would be regaining all the weight I’ve lost to date. Why do I think that way? I think it’s because I am new territory. I’ve never lost this much weight or weighed this low while making a full blown effort to lose weight. In the past, I’d workout, play football, and eat whatever the hell I wanted. Now I can’t do that. So it’s been a whole new road for me. I suppose I’m a little scared of yo-yoing back to the 300 lbs. YIKES!

105 Burpees Non-Stop by a 288 lb Fat Man

Update: Here is a video of me completing a 100 burpee challenge.
It’s 11:10 PM. I’m tired. I want to work on tweaking the website. I’m sleepy. I want to go to bed.
What do I do? I get off my ass…and workout. This is what it’s going to take for me to get to where I [...]

Weekly Weigh-In: 3.4 lbs Lost

Weekly Weigh-In: 3.4 lbs Lost

Week two of being under 300 lbs. Another week and another few pounds lost. This time I lost 3.4 lbs, much less than the 10+ lbs from last week, but it’s right around where I want to be on a weekly basis. I think at this point I can consistently lose 2 to 3 lbs a week with no sweat. Well, I need to sweat but you know what I mean.

Small weekly loses are better for me in the long run than huge loses. My total lost so far is at 59.6 lbs. That’s 60 lbs in my book. 60 mutha freaking pounds I lost. Back in the day losing 60 lbs was a major thing for me, or any I knew for that matter. But here I am about halfway to my goal and 60 lbs doesn’t seem like anything to me. How times change…

Ask Dr. Rybicki: Basic Weight Loss Procedures

Ask Dr. Rybicki: Basic Weight Loss Procedures

Exercise is the cornerstone of weight loss. I advise patients to start slow and develop an exercise program that includes both core strengthening and aerobic exercise. I recommend that they work their way up to aerobic exercise for a period of 30 to 40 minutes three times a week. Common examples of aerobic exercise include running on a treadmill, riding an exercise bicycle, or using elliptical trainers.

The Power of the Mind

The Power of the Mind

In order to take control of your life, you must first take control of yourself. In order to take control of yourself, you must first take control of your body. In order to take control of your body, you must first take control of your mind, and to take control of your mind, you must first change your way of thinking. When you think about yourself, or your life, or your family, or anything in your environment, do you think as a pessimist, or as an optimist?

Super Size My Superman and Batman, Fat Super Heroes to the Rescue

Super Size My Superman and Batman, Fat Super Heroes to the Rescue

I thought about the comics and the physiques the super heroes were depicted has having. None of the superheroes were fat! This perplexed me. If Superman was so omnipotent why couldn’t he get away with a lil’ bulge? Belly fat would not have diminished his status. Superman’s powers were so extraordinary even in the realm of super heroes that he could get away with being out of shape.

Weekly Weigh-In: 10.6 lbs Lost

Weekly Weigh-In: 10.6 lbs Lost

I finally broke the 300 lb plateau I’ve had since I started this blog. I’m in the 200’s now. It was time for my weekly weigh-in this morning and although I felt confident that I would drop weight, I was not expecting to be down a staggering 10.6 lbs this week! That’s right! I dropped down below 300 lbs for the first time in many, many years. I don’t quite know how to react except to keep on doing what I am doing so that I can reach my goals each week.

Listening to Your Body, Resting the Warrior Mentality

Listening to Your Body, Resting the Warrior Mentality

Your body talks to you. Didn’t you know that? Not like the kid in Look Who’s Talking or the dog in Look Who’s Talking, Too (starring a slimmer, younger John Travolta), but it gives you signs that you need to learn to respect.
Letting the Warrior Mentality Rest
Sometimes you can get carried away with the hardcore [...]
