As this year winds down, many athletes worldwide are winding up for next year's big summer games. The 2012 Olympics are scheduled to take place in London, England, and the city has been busy with preparation for their moment in the world's spotlight. With all the excitement built up from the games of 2004 and 2008, next year's competition promises fierce rivalries and thrilling victories.

It is no secret that these athletes have been preparing, many for their entire lives, for the few weeks of July 27 through August 12. The games will include track and field, soccer, basketball, swimming, equestrian, cycling, tennis, and gymnastics, just to name a few. That means we'll be seeing returning champions like the USA's Michael Phelps racing through the pool and Jamaica's Usain Bolt flying around the track once again, hoping to win a few more gold medals for their impressive collections. There are over 200 nations expected to participate in the upcoming games promising many new heroes to rise to glory while the world watches. No doubt viewers will witness all the excitement of exalting victories and crushing defeats as the games progress and those ellusive medals are claimed one by one.

London has built the games park in the Stratford area of the city and has already seen an increase in tourism to the area as fans flock to preview the new facilities. Though most of us won't be able to travel to the historic city to witness the event firsthand, the games will be available in HD and with extra features to viewers with DirecTV at home. Those without satellite or cable can find great Direct TV deals for new customers online. Plans for parties and gatherings to cheer on national heroes have already started being planned as fans gear up their living rooms and patriotism for next summer. Wherever you are, the 2012 Olympics will certainly not be something to miss.

If you want to get better results from your workouts, it’s important that you stay healthy. Your body is a well-oiled machine. Everything is connected. In order for you to lose fat and gain mass, your whole body needs to be functioning properly. And if you’re sick, this isn’t going to happen.

Staying healthy is not all that difficult. Although you still may catch a common cold or come down with the flu, there are a few things you can do on a daily basis to improve your overall health and fight off germs.

Wash your hands

You’ve heard this since you were barely tall enough to stand at the sink and lather up with kid-colored soap and it remains as true today as it was then.

According to an article published by the Mayo Clinic, “frequent hand washing is one of the best ways to avoid getting sick and spreading an illness.” Always wash your hands before and after preparing food, when you touch or play with a pet, after handling garbage and after using the restroom. Try carrying a hand sanitizer in your purse or leaving a bottle in your car for those times when you’re not able to get to a sink.

While your hands won’t ever be germ free, frequently washing your hands will reduce the risk of spreading the germs throughout your body.

Change your Toothbrush

Despite what you may think, dentists don’t tell us to change our toothbrush often just to keep the oral health companies in business. Although some toothbrushes have anti-microbial bristles, the common toothbrush traps bacteria from your mouth and from the air.

According to a study conducted at England’s University of Manchester, “one uncovered toothbrush can harbor more than 100 million bacteria, including E. coli bacteria, which can cause diarrhea, and staphylococci (“Staph”) bacteria that cause skin infections.”
The American Dental Association recommends getting a new toothbrush every three to four months and also replacing your toothbrush after an illness. Frequently replacing your toothbrush will keep germs at bay and keep your mouth cleaner.

Get Plenty of Sleep

If you’ve ever pulled an all-nighter or multiple all-nighters in a row, then you know what going without adequate sleep can do to your body. You just can’t function the next day.

According to the Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School and WGBH Educational Foundation, “studies of humans and other animals have discovered that sleep plays a critical role in immune function, metabolism, memory, learning, and other vital functions.” There have also been studies that show growth hormones are released while you sleep, causing you to gain more mass during your nighttime slumbers.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) associates many illnesses, including diabetes, obesity, depression and heart diseases with sleep deprivation. According to the CDC, the average adult needs roughly seven to nine hours of sleep each night in order to feel well rested and ready to take on the world.

Although following these few guidelines may not keep you from coming down with that bug that’s floating around your office, they may help you maintain a better overall health. Stay connected with Fat Man Unleashed for more tips on how to develop a healthier lifestyle and embrace your inner warrior.

A study must show that minding your own business is good for your health.

I don’t know if there is scientific evidence to back up this theory of mine, but I’m sure at one point there was a study conducted about this. There are studies done about everything.

Through an unrelated series of events, it has become clear that minding your own business is a healthy habit. I have great personal evidence to back this up. Here goes.

Minding your own business reduces stress in your life. If you spend time meddling in other peoples’ affairs you are bound to hear bits of information that will add stress to your body. You may find out that a colleague of yours, whom you happen to adore, is getting fired. You might be gossiping about someone and they overhear what you have to say. You could think you know what’s going on in a situation but actually have no clue about what is really happening. All of these situations lead to added stress.

Stress is a killer. It raises blood pressure and causes an array of health issues from heart attacks to strokes. This is scientifically proven. Google it.

Another reason why minding your own business is good for your health is that it keeps you focused on your job. If you are so busy wondering what everyone is doing and trying to gossip and meddle in others’ affairs, you are bound to be slacking at work. This could lead to you getting fired which could lead to eating off the dollar menu at McDonald’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not a healthy lifestyle. Did you ever see Super Size Me?

If you are a gossiper, like to antagonize people, or find yourself always in the middle of confrontations, then you probably don’t have very many friends. Generally, people don’t like people who are mean and nasty. And the friends you do have are probably not your true friends. Having meaningful and lasting friendships is very important to your health. Friends usually spend a lot of their time laughing, which lowers stress and actually has been proven to help you live longer.

Probably the most obvious reason for why minding your own business is good for your health is that it will keep you from getting punched in the face. I’m not one to pry into the lives of my fellow people, so I can’t speak from personal experience. But I have witnessed first hand many brutal fights in which someone got punched in the nose, eye, groin and even kidney for running their mouth and talking smack. Now, some people don’t hit very hard. It’s just not part of their DNA. But, I know there are plenty of people out there who can pack a Mike-Tyson-sized-wallop on whatever area of the body they choose.

Getting punched is no fun. So mind your own business, do your job, don’t eat McDonalds three times a day and be sure to drink lots of water. You’ll be way ahead of the rest of the world!

This idea is two years in the making. In October of 2008 I came up with this idea to promote health and fitness. Two years went by and I dropped the ball on it. Now, after just having registered for the 5K Publix Super Markets Gasparilla Distance Classic Race Weekend, February 26, 2011, here in Tampa, FL, this is being revived.

What is Team Fat Man?
Well, it’s pretty simple really. You are Team Fat Man. More specifically though, Team Fat Man is an initiative I came up with to help sponsor and promote health and fitness. FatManUnleashed.com will:

Sponsor any person/athlete that enters a race, marathon, biking race, swimming race, sports event, contest, etc, etc, etc.

We will reimburse a percentage your entry fee (up to a specified amount that needs to be agreed upon prior to any commitment from FMU).

Provide you a free Team Fat Man t-shirt.

Feature you on Fat Man Unleashed as an official Team Fat Man member.

I am working on providing an extra goody for being a member of Team Fat Man, but that is in the works and open to ideas.

What is the Catch or Athletes Role?
The catch is:

You have to place within the top 8% of all entrants (open to change).

Wear a Team Fat Man t-shirt during the event (or after if it’s a race or some other obstacle is presented).

Write a blog post about the experience that will be posted on FMU, video si great too.

If you have any suggestions or comments regarding Team Fat Man and the whole sponsoring thing, let me know. I am always open to ideas. This is open to athletes and potentially to people that walk for charities.

If you want to become a Team Fat Man member, please contact me so that we can get started. Please provide the race you will run, the date, the entrance cost, a link to the race web site, and a little bit about yourself.

I recently participated in the Plus Up Your Gym Bag Makeover in which I was sent a gift card so that I can upgrade my gym bag. This was going to be a relatively easy upgrade, since I don’t have a gym bag to begin with. I work out at home for the most part, so it makes it really easy for me to not have to take anything with me. I was originally going to make a video about this whole fun project, but the audio was damaged.

FiberPlus Taste Test
Part of the promotion was that I had to try out the new Kellogg’s FiberPlus bars. I received a coupon to go buy a box of bars, which I did at the local Super Walmart. I chose the chocolate chip version. I let my wife try the bars out first. She didn’t like them. I tried them after a workout and thought they tasted good. It was very light and had a good amount of carbs. One of the positives of the FiberPlus bars is that they have antioxidants.

According to the Kellogg’s FiberPlus site “Many Americans aren’t getting enough fiber, whole grains, vitamins and minerals daily. With 35% of your daily fiber, 7 grams of whole grains, plus antioxidants vitamin E and zinc, these bars are a nutritious—and delicious—high-fiber treat.” Look’s like another way to combat the lack of nutrition that is rampant in America.

Plus Up MY Gym Bag
I immediately set out to upgrade my fitness tools. I have pretty much everything I need minus a few things I’ve been wanting, so this was the perfect time. The first thing I purchased was a heart rate monitor. This will let me keep track of my calorie expenditure plus my heart rate. Next I purchased a yoga mat. The days of doing yoga on a hard, cold floor are over! I also purchased a fanny pack. lol. Now I actually have a gym bag to hold my stuff. I occasionally go to the gym to hop on the elliptical or go on long walks. Now I can carry stuff with me in my “gym bag”. I also purchased a new pair of shorts. My other pair was starting to fall apart. The last thing I purchased was a Live Strong band. I try to make living strong a habit of mine.

I rarely have any sympathy for celebrities who whine about their difficult lives. NO TIME? How about all the “real life” moms and dads out there who are juggling jobs, parenthood and everyday responsibilities without the help of managers, nannies and drivers? NO PRIVACY? Puh-lease. You know you crave the spotlight. (I’m talking to you Diddy, Kardashian clan and Jersey Shore cast.) CAN’T GET A DATE? Well, I’m single and… well, let’s not go there.

At times, my inner green-eyed monster makes an appearance while leafing through magazines or watching the red carpet pre-awards show specials. What can I say; I’m a girl and comparing myself to others is in my DNA. So yes, I do get a tad envious watching some of these real-life muses of perfection glide towards the Kodak Theatre without a bump, lump, sag or zit in sight. Perhaps money can’t buy you love, but it can certainly snag you a top-notch fitness trainer and personal chef. (0r, a lifelong membership to one of those meal home delivery services for a $800 a month.)

This week, Kelly Osbourne and Drew Carey adorn the covers of US Weekly and Parade respectively, as Ozzy’s daughter and ‘The Price is Right’ host reveal their recent weight loss milestones. Osbourne has gone from a size 14 to a size 2, and Carey has 77 pounds with a goal to lose 15 more.

The former ‘Dancing With The Stars’ contestant tells US, “Everyone always asks ‘What is the secret’? but there is no secret. It is the old-fashioned way of making a commitment to yourself and waking up every day and doing it.”

Interesting. No surgical procedure? No super-cleanse? No detox diet? No extreme… anything?! I kept reading and realized that despite the difference in our bank accounts, I could actually apply the stars’ tried and true lifestyle tips by just making a few changes in my diet and exercise routine. (The same US article featured some other celebs who have successfully beat their battles of the bulge the right way.)

•	Jennifer Hudson’s Tip – Watch portions
•	Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Tip – Find what (exercise routine) motivates you
•	Reese Witherspoon’s Tip – Keep workouts varied
•	Ricki Lake’s Tip – Always set new goals
•	Kourtney Kardashian – Stick to little meals (5-6 per day)
•	Carrie Underwood – Keep a food diary (I’ve tried this but eventually get tired of my pens running out of ink. But it does help!)
•	Katherine Heigl’s Tip – Chase after the baby
•	Tyra Banks’ Tip – Walk off the extra pounds

Their advice isn’t rocket science or expensive and truth be told, each tip is attainable and manageable no matter what our schedule or budgets. I’m not saying that losing weight is easy (if only), but it’s good to know that these ladies – who oftentimes feel like inhabitants of another planet {Planet Hollywood!} – have (or, had) the same issues and challenges as us everyday folk. And that we can share in their solutions to a better us and bask in our own little spotlight! (Paparazzi not included.)

Quit smoking.

The list of health issues caused by smoking is lengthy for both men and women, but women who smoke are even more likely to develop serious medical conditions.

According to an article on the Mayo Clinic website, women who smoke run a higher risk of succumbing to one of the top five illnesses that affect women, which are heart disease, cancer, stroke, COPD and Alzheimer’s disease.

It has been said that breaking a habit takes around two weeks. And for you smokers out there, that could seem like a lifetime. You may be worried about all the stigmas attached to quitting smoking: you’ll gain weight, you’ll be moody and cranky, you’ll get terrible headaches. But the truth is, if you can stick it out for a handful of weeks, the benefits of quitting smoking will far outweigh how bad you feel for a few weeks. And there are plenty of resources available to you if you want to put down that cigarette.

A great resource is the Smoke Free website, www.smokefree.gov, which provides you with tools and resources to help you stop the unhealthy habit. The site also has a step-by-step guide to help you quit and an option to speak with someone for advice. Kicking the habit can be very hard and you don’t have to do it alone. Talking with someone about your struggle may just be the push you need to help you quit.

There are also various inventions that can assist you in your journey. Whether you try to nicotine patch, nicotine gum or the fairly new electronic cigarette, find what works for you and stick with it. The health of all your organs depends on it.

The fact of the matter is smoking does nothing but harm your body. The longer you smoke, the higher risk you run of developing a serious health condition that could dramatically alter or even your life. You are worth more than that.

Is it me or is Chad Ochocinco an absolute genius who is ten years ahead of his time? The recent fine levied against him from the NFL front office and commissioner Roger Goodell stems from Chad Ochocinco updating his Twitter account during a preseason game. Simply put: WOW. The Miami born Chad Javon Johnson who legally changed his surname to Ochocinco in 2009 in honor of his jersey number, 85, with the Cincinnati Bengals is a technological athletic dynamo. The ten year veteran and six time Pro Bowler took the opportunity to add two separate tweets during an August 20, 2010 preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In accordance with league rules players are not allowed to post any messages on social media sites 90 minutes prior to the start of play. In addition the ban is only lifted after all post game media obligations are met. I deduced that this NFL rule came into effect following a Chad Ochocinco statement in July 2009 in which he said he would start utilizing twitter during games. Chad is not only a game changer but rule-lapper extraordinaire.

All this Ochocinco madness and “ahem” innovation got me thinking about the amazing “in-game” interactive aspect to an athlete updating their Twitter feed during a live national event. What if Chad actually took cues and advice from his loyal followers? One would read: “Ochocinco fake an inside route and blow the defensive back away deep up field! And then lick the goal post!”. I can’t imagine Pittsburgh Steeler fans’ suggestions would be kind in nature. This ultra form of fan interaction and in-game alterations could affect history! Just imagine if President Barack Obama took tips from the everyday average Americans mid-speech? You thought he stuttered and went “UHM” now? Just picture him trying to assimilate Bertha from Toledo’s advice during a heated debate with Tea Party members! It’s okay Mr. President we forgive you just keep passing stimulus bills for more road construction projects, to this day I haven’t meet one person who said “I build roads because of Barack Obama”. No matter how progressive you are this is change you want no part of, Bertha will jack up your speech Mr. President…darn you Twitter!

The current to the heartbeat fluid nature of social media has serious ramifications on reporting events in the present day. Chad must have been tempted more than twice to post pictures to Facebook of himself dancing in the end zone during his touchdown celebration. Imagine if you can, up to the second Facebook updates by a professional athlete during the actual event? I suppose the fastest man in the world Usain Bolt most likely had time to hit up his Facebook account during his 100 meter Olympic Record breaking run. Mr. Bolt is so fast he could have logged into his Facebook account posted pictures of his competitors choking on his dust and hit the “like” button on this article…or “dislike” button for that matter.

Oh but if we take this a bit further we can analyze how social media updates will change the outcome of things such as the Super Bowl. Let us explore how my dear Buffalo Bills fans would have utilized the assistive tool that Twitter can be. Enter a Mr. Scott Norwood, Buffalo Bill field goal kicker at Super Bowl XXV (25) against Bill Parcells’ New York Giants. Wide right could have been prevented if some Buffalo Bill fan doubling as a weather buff would have sent Scott Norwood wind speed and barometric pressure updates via Twitter. Which Norwood would no doubt have checked via his Blackberry, iPhone or better yet an iPad if the stadium was Wi-Fi enabled of course. That was a special night no doubt a harbinger in so many ways. Whitney Houston belted out the greatest rendition of the star spangled banner ever, Jordan Sparxx is an honorable mention in that department and terrorist threats brought security to an all time high in that Tampa stadium. A quick flashback, Saddam Hussein was still in power in Iraq and George W. Bush’s dad was president. The upstate town of Buffalo suffered most. Buffalo would have had an economic up-swing if Twitter existed in 1991. Norwood actually making that 47 yard field goal has dramatic historical implications and turns on the dreaded, perplexing grandfather paradox . Time travel anyone?

Ace Ventura would have no plot and Jim Carrey would not have become the star he is now if the kick is made by Norwood. The Ray Finkle character in Ace Ventura Pet Detective was based on Scoot Norwood and so was born the Canadian comedic sensation known as Jim Carrey. So what if it never would’ve went down like this you ask? Let’s explore together. Perhaps in this alternate universe Jim Carrey does not become a side-splitting genius and this fact makes it all the more difficult for Jennifer Lopez to become “JLO”. Jennifer Lopez never hooks up with P. Diddy, I mean Diddy and no one gets shot. Perhaps Jamie Foxx never ascends form obscure imitation DJ to play Ray Charles in a major motion picture. At this point Jamie perhaps cannot afford the cell phone that sent his infamous nude pics. Perhaps in this parallel dimension Green Bay Packer legend Brett Favre never gets the idea to send pictures of his member to former Florida State cow girl cheerleader and Playboy pin up, Jenn Sterger. Yes, in this scenario Jamie Foxx albeit extremely talented is a horrible influence on America’s favorite gun-slinging, wrangler wearing, country boy quarterback. Ms. Sterger 26 at the time and Favre an interception throwing machine with the New York Jets at the same time had an unfortunate “sexting” interaction. Poor Sterger was on the receiving end of the Mississippi native’s version of “hello purty lady”. Let the record show that Favre was wearing a pair of his signature Crocs footwear in the photos. Favre wearing Crocs ruins my chubby nurse fantasy, totally ruined…forever. Ms. Sterger firmly stated “I don’t roll that way. That way meaning old…or married.” All’s well that ends well when a young lady with morals is involved.

Nevertheless this drama and turmoil all could have been prevented if Twitter existed in 1991. Did we really need the movie “Me, Myself and Irene”? I personally play this masterpiece (being facetious) simply to ward off unwanted house guests by exposing them to Renee Zellweger’s screechy voice and strained filled face. Is it me or is she Gilbert Gottfried’s oddly attractive second cousin? The Hank Evans character was a definite classic: “Oh yeah? Well this is just a fist. But when I start throwing it around I can leave one hell of a mess”. Sorry about the random movie quote but Jim Carrey made me do it.

And now for the crust of the matter folks, the smarter readers have caught on by now but don’t feel bad if you haven’t you still have a chance to catch up later on so keep reading ,drum roll please…Gatorade folks! I’m talking Gatorade bucket baths on winning coaches. The all- American Gatorade bath all began on January 27, 1991 when Scott Norwood missed that fate changing kick during the final moments of Super Bowl XXV. I can hear it in my mind’s ear like it was yesterday Al Michaels delivering that famous line: “No good! Wide right!” as coach Bill Parcells received the ceremonial Gatorade shower. This particular Gatorade shower I feel solidified the sports performance beverage as the best way to razz your head coach. I ask you if not for Gatorade would modern day energy drinks exist? Would have Redbull, Coca-Cola’s Monster or Lil John’s Crunk Juice hit the shelves at your local CVS or Walgreens if not for Scott Norwood’s misfortune and the absence of Twitter? I ask you step back and see the bigger picture, remember history is like a huge picture mosaic; separate but all connected.

So where is this all leading you ask. Let’s return to a Mr. Chad Ochocinco who is on to something big with the in-game social media updates. Imagine if you had the capability to digitally control the athletic decisions made by the actual Fantasy Football players you drafted. If for a price you could play real human athletes like a Madden video game. Now open your mind to the idea of entire NFL rosters being controlled by an “IN-GAME GAMER COACH GUY or GAL”. The average age of an NFL head coach would surely drop to 21 years of age. I predict a franchise owned and operated by Mark Zuckerberg himself! So if things got to the level that players were implanted with a chip that dictated the plays called by you the fantasy owner would that make them Androids? The future is scary but at least we have Facebook to comfort us while it simultaneously lowers the efficiency of the American work force. But does that really matter with a growing majority of us being paid to stay home any way? What is the average unemployment insurance weekly benefit payment in New Jersey? As I write this I just recalled that I forget to program my TiVo to record “In Living Color”, I just love those Fly Girls. But what if I could control them?… Android Fly Girls…hmmmm then JLO would be mine.

This is your after meal dessert:

Did you know that Chad Ochocinco served as the place kicker during an August 20, 2009 preseason game against the New England Patriots. Ochocinco kicked off and made an extra point replacing the usual kicker Shayne Graham who was injured. The extra point made by Ochocinco was the game’s difference in the Bengals’ 7 to 6 victory.

Jim Carrey and Renee Zellweger dated after meeting on the set of the movie “Me, Myself and Irene”. The relationship ended in December 2000. Following the 2000 breakup paparazzi spotted Carrey on an extravagant yacht in an apparent sick tryst with Oprah and Stedman.

Olympic Gold medalist and speed freak Usain Bolt wants to play professional soccer following his track and field career.

Four medical researchers, Robert Cade, Dana Shires, Harry James Free, and Alejandro de Quesada from the University of Florida created the original Gatorade formula in 1965. The story goes that Florida Gators football coach, Ray Graves approached the team doctor for advice on his teams’ lackluster performance throughout summer practices. The doctor put Graves in touch with the four researchers lead by Cade who came up with a thirst quencher made of water, sodium, sugar, potassium, phosphate and lemon juice. Gatorade as it was named in honor of the football team is credited with helping the Gators win their first Orange Bowl, a 1967 defeat of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. That victory cemented Gatorade’s reputation as a revolutionary new athletic beverage. Georgia Tech head coach, Bud Carson when answering a question as to why his team loss that 1967 Orange Bowl replied: “We didn’t have Gatorade. That made the difference.”

Jennifer Lopez better known as JLO is a part owner of the Miami Dolphins.
Marc Zuckenberg’s magical website Facebook, has been banned and blocked several times in many countries such as Pakistan, Syria, China, Vietnam and Iran. Many Princes worldwide have complained that no multiple wife function exist on the info page, making it difficult to pick which demanding ball and chain to honor on FB.

Twitter collects personally identifiable information about you guys and then shares it with third parties who pay a pretty penny for your info. Twitter does not bog itself down with any displayed advertisements. Instead advertisers can directly target users based on the track history of tweets the unsuspecting Tweeters ( I think that’s a word? Or is it Twits? ) post and may even quote those tweets in the ads. Talk about pinpoint marketing…scary, I call it pecking.

I am so suspicious folks! The iPad is eerily similar to the Star Trek PADD tablet computer. Please don’t tell me Steve Jobs is a Klingon.

Monster Energy is distributed by Coca-Cola Enterprises in the U.S. but in Germany fierce competitor Pepsi is the producer, pretty strange.

Redbull is the world leader in the energy drink market. “Red Bull Cola” drinks imported in 2009 from Austria were found to contain trace amounts of cocaine according to Hong Kong officials. Whenever I hear Hong Kong officials the theme song from “Midnight Express” plays in my head.

Brett Favre is a legend, part Choctaw Native American part football stud. On July 14, 1990, just prior to the start of Favre’s senior year at Southern Miss, he was driving when a horrible car accident occurred. Doctors removed 30 inches (760 mm) of Favre’s small intestine as a result of the injuries he sustained. Just six weeks later Favre dramatically led the Golden Eagle to a comeback victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide. Crimson Tide head coach Gene Stallings said: “You can call it a miracle or a legend or whatever you want to. I just know that on that day, Brett Favre was larger than life”. Well said Gene yet you never saw Brett modeling his Crocs.

Hollywood legend Burt Reynolds attended the Florida State University via a college football scholarship, playing halfback. Reynolds hopes of athletic stardom were dashed when he was injured during his first game. With his dreams of becoming a college All-American and eventually a professional football player shattered Burt decided to begin dating Dinah Shore. Rumors have surfaced that Florida State cow girl and Brett Favre love interest, Jenn Sterger is the love child of Burt Reynolds and Dinah Shore.

You’re having a strange dream. You can’t identify the sound but it just won’t stop. Finally, the noise wakes you up and you realize your alarm clock is going off. Time to start another day.

You start the shower, wash up, get dressed and head out to the kitchen. Time to make coffee, breakfast, pack lunches and get the kids up and ready for school. You think about everything that you have to do today, which includes finishing that big project at work, interviewing candidates for a new position, stopping by the grocery store to pick up dinner, picking up the kids from school, taking the kids to sports practice, cleaning the house and checking homework.

No where on your list does it say anything about taking time for yourself to exercise. And how could it possibly say that? Where could you pencil that in between everything else that has to get done?

The truth is, if you don’t make yourself take the time to workout, you won’t. And you can’t really count all of your running around and house cleaning as exercise. You need to maintain a consistent increased heart rate for longer than it takes you to vacuum your house.

Finding the time to workout can be overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be. According to an article published on Goodhealth.com, (http://www.goodhealth.com/articles/2008/09/05/how_often_should_you_exercise) “adults 18 and older need 30 minutes of physical activity on five or more days a week to be healthy.” That is probably less time than you spend watching TV on a daily basis. You can find the time to get healthy and improve the way you feel. It is simply a matter of penciling yourself in to your schedule.

For the next two weeks, take a moment before you start your day and write out your to do list. Include everything that you have to do, and everything that you want to do. Set your priorities and make sure that you do what must be done. Make working out one of your top priorities. By seeing everything written out and knowing what you need to do, you will find that you have more time than you thought. Instead of the 25 minutes you spend surfing the net for new clothes, allot that time for a run. Rather than spending two hours watching the Seinfeld marathon, take half an hour and do yoga. You don’t have to travel to a gym to workout. There are literally hundreds of ways to workout at home for free. Simply doing an Internet search for “workouts at home” will provide you with pages of great, free workouts.

It’s time for you to make yourself a priority. And don’t feel guilty about it either. If you are afraid you’re taking time away from your kids or spouse, consider this: a healthier you makes for a happier you. Your family will appreciate the change and will respect the fact that you make time to workout. In turn, they will be prone to follow in your footsteps and make exercising a priority in their lives as well.

Sarah Stanley, a health enthusiast, is embarking on an over 300 mile bike ride – sponsored by Nutrilite – from the nation’s capital to New York City to raise awareness about childhood obesity and to celebrate her birthday.

Stanley’s journey begins today and wraps up on the 20th of the month. She will be making stops along the way, speaking at schools and events, and also participating in a half marathon.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2008, between 10 and 20 percent of children and adolescents aged two to 19 were obese, with the highest percentage of obese children in the six to 11 age bracket. Stanley hopes to bring awareness to the issue and, by stopping and speaking at schools, teach kids the benefits of living active and healthy lifestyles.

Let me re-phrase that, the Penn State Junior running back is Ferrari Fast. Combine that with the dynamic running vision he possesses and he can make a defense pay in the blink of an eye. With rumors swirling around Happy Valley of a sub 4.3 40 yard time for Green, defensive coordinators know he exists. The college football world will start noticing that the mature and ultra poised young man from the Bronx, New York doesn’t only bring flat line speed but an uncanny sense for the big play. Catch him if you can but most defenses will witness the back of number 21’s jersey this college football season.

Earlier in the week leading up to the show down in Tuscaloosa, Alabama against the defending Nation champion Alabama Crimson Tide reports out of Penn State had Stephfon Green suffering from a neck injury. But according to Stephfon the reports were erroneous and he reveleaved instead that he had suffered a concussion and but was geared to play. It is clear that Green is eager to play Alabama and is relishing the underdog status his Nittany Lions have been relegated to.

Now enter Joe Paterno and the fact that if he beats Alabama and Nick Saban this will not only be Joe “Pa’s” 396th win as head coach but his 500th overall victory as a part of the organization. A considerable milestone to in trust in the hands of a true freshman quarterback, but Robert Bolden is just that. In Penn State’s week one 44 to 14 victory against Youngstown State Bolden looked to have the mettle to be the man. Can Bolden hold up in Tuscaloosa with 101,000 frenzied Crimson Tide fans calling for his head? Now that’s the question that will be answered Saturday September 11, 2010 beginning at 7 pm Eastern Time.

Penn State starting running back Evan Royster will also be vying for a milestone of his own, 3000 yards for his career at Penn State. Good guy Evan has been a steady work horse who has flashed game breaking runs in his own right. You can’t help but root for Royster, Joe Paterno and the entire Nittany Lion nation against the big bad Tide and the cunning Nick Saban.

The Tide has few woes themselves and some experts see them as vulnerable without the use of their most feared weapon, Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram. Mark Ingram was the Tide’s leading rusher last year and Alabama’s safety blanket for that matter. Capable and talented back up Trent Richardson will carry the rock for the Tide in Ingram’s absence. With Ingram on the sidelines recuperating from a knee scope Trent needs to gain yards and control the ball. It wouldn’t hurt the Alabama’s cause if star stud wide receiver Julio Jones made a few big plays. A young secondary and line backing core on the defensive side of the ball can spell disaster for the Tide in this game. My advice no arm tackling boys! I smell an upset and I think Evan Royster displays his inside ruining prowess and Stephfon Green shows the SEC some real speed.

My prediction: 28-25 Penn State being the victor. Will Stephfon score three touchdowns and scorch the Tide in Tuscaloosa? Somebody get a close up of coach Saban’s jaw dropping. It doesn’t hurt that Stephfon is the pride and joy of my Kennedy Knights…yes admittedly I am a homer on this one. Honestly what’s not to love about a Bronx kid who runs a 4.3 and plays for Joe “Pa’s” Nittany Lions?

On top of taking care of kids, managing a household and working a full-time job there is great pressure to have a look that society finds acceptable. At times, women may not only feel the pressure from the opposite sex, but from other women as well. It can be a constant competition to fit in and be better than the rest.

Putting vanity aside, there are positive aspects to having a good self image. Thinking of yourself in a positive light gives you the ability to carry yourself through your daily tasks and allows you to do so with confidence.

But has today’s culture pushed women too far causing them to obsess over the way they look?

An article titled “Women’s Issues Then and Now,” touches on an interesting study conducted by Glamour which states, “three-quarters of women aged 18-35 reported feeling too fat, while only one quarter of them could be so described.” The study goes on to say that almost 50 percent of surveyed women would choose to lost 10 pounds rather than landing their dream job or meeting their future love.

How did the priorities of our women get so skewed?

Although magazines and the media tend to only provide accolades to women of today who are thin enough or attractive enough, the average woman should not base her self image on appearance alone.

A woman’s self image can directly be related to her self worth. When a woman looks at herself with abhorrence, she may also think of herself as useless. The article “Positive Self Image and Self Esteem” says that, “improving your self-image…takes time and practice. Developing good self-esteem involves encouraging a positive (but realistic) attitude toward yourself and…appreciating your worth. Self-esteem isn’t self-absorption; it’s self-respect.”

While we all want to look good and be accepted, the important issue is our overall health. There are plenty of women today who may appear healthy and meet society’s weight requirements on the outside but are living completely unhealthy lifestyles. Attaining the so called ideal body image can be deadly. Some women resort to starving themselves or eating very little to be appealing to others.

What it boils down to is that being overweight is detrimental to your health. Health issues such as diabetes, heart disease and high cholesterol in women can be directly linked to being overweight. And when your physical health is in decline, your mental health will deteriorate as well. Your body and your mind are directly connected. One won’t work well without the other.

Our society should change the way they look at women. It should shift the focus to losing weight for health reasons, not for vanity. If there wasn’t so much pressure on us to look a certain way, maybe making a lifestyle change would be easier.

Just a thought.

The 14 year veteran of the Today Show granted me an interview while she was in New York. The first thing that strikes you when you speak to the Michigan native is her “realness” no cream puff filling here folks. She is all she claims to be and more. Kathy lives the life and hates diets, preferring instead to instill Lifestyle choices not trendy, temporary head spinning fads. Kathy practices what she preaches and preaches from the heart drawing from a wealth of experience as the mother of three growing and active boys. A trainer to the stars for more than twenty years, Kathy’s A-list clients are superstars and household names from Kim Basinger to Kim Kardashian. Not to mention Julia Roberts and Matt Lauer. I did my research on Ms. Kaehler but she exceeded my expectations delivering clear and sharp answers to my most complicated fitness questions. Here is the interview I had with Kathy on Tuesday June 15, 2010 at 1:00pm Eastern time.

Dennis: Kathy you are renowned for being a proponent of simplicity… I like to call it effective simplicity, in your view what SIMPLE choices can someone make to get the ball rolling towards wellness? Is there a rule or theory that can be implemented to guide someone trying to achieve a better fitness level?

Kathy: Yes Dennis, because of all the options available and various diets that exist presently confusion is the ultimate result. To streamline things I simply say MOVE YOUR BODY! As long has you continue the routine of movement your regimen will be effective.

Incorporating my 90/10 rule adds simplicity to your Lifestyle change.

90% of the time you are active and adhering to a healthy foods menu and the other 10% is LIFE. Coffee and a slice of cake with friends once a month, a power lunch at your city’s top restaurant with a client or the dinner party that pops up. All these events are LIFE and you can’t and shouldn’t avoid any of them.

Not to mention they keep us sane and are as vital as the other lifestyle changes that incorporate health.

Hey and if you are gonna indulge Dennis and live that 10% to the fullest no better way to do it than with a great new product by Breyers Ice Cream, it’s called Smooth and Dreamy. These treats are incredible because the bars and ice cream options are within the 120-160 calorie range. An unbeatable and awesome way to be devilish if you have to be.

Dennis: In my view mothers are the super heroes of our modern age. Multitask is the word that most comes to mind when I think Mom know a days. MULTITASK is our nations new buzz word or term, can you give BUSY or overwhelmed moms specifically two immediate day one CHANGES that they can incorporate to jump start new eating habits and a exercise routine?

Kathy: I have a great story for you Dennis, I’ll never forget Michelle Pfeiffer’s spirit. I trained her for the blockbuster movie Batman Returns. She was cast in the dynamic role of Catwoman.

She had a grueling schedule; call time was 5:00am for the entirety of that movie. She had the option of sleeping until right before 5:00, then showing up on set or waking up even earlier and fitting a 4:00am workout with me. She chose to take on the challenge of getting that workout in. This can be related to moms who lead hectic and demanding lives in a specific way. Just follow the principle that as soon as your foot hits the ground get that workout in! Endorphins are magical and can carry you throughout the day with that extra focus and you got that workout in early to boot.

Dennis: Wow Kathy you are so right! That simple real life principle takes the daunting feeling of “oh I have to get my workout in at the end of the day or at a lunch break” out of the equation. And I agree endorphins are a magical formula for success.

To segway utilizing the theme of endorphins what is your take on exercise during times of crisis or stress in one’s life?

Kathy: Exercise does provide a certain degree of focus that can be invaluable during hard times in a person’s life. It can help settle your thoughts and thus sharpen your decision making.

Dennis: What is something that you find most individuals FORGET to incorporate into their new wellness plan or exercise routine?

Kathy: People need to remember this tip; “FIND SOMETHING YOU LIKE AND DO IT!

Get active doing something that you enjoy, is healthy, involves movement, makes you feel positive and stick to that DO IT!

Dennis: Give us a food that you can’t live without.

Kathy: Foods that are one step away from being at the original state.

Dennis: I like that concept!

Kathy: I feel out of sync when I go a period of time away from my more natural foods. I find that my performance is heightened when my body is fueled by the right food, raw or one step away from their natural state. Try it and be empowered.

Dennis: What is your most exotic food indulgence?

Kathy: Chocolate, the fresher the better..awww chocolate. Breyers is making that indulgence of mine all the more guilt free…Ice cream dipped in chocolate and low calorie is a winning combination within my 90/10 approach. I tell you Dennis Breyers Ice Cream has hit it out of the ball park on this one , Smooth and Dreamy is just that absolutely delicious and a wiser choice. I personally love the Chocolate covered strawberry bars, TRY THEM.

Dennis: If you can disclose which trainee over the years has impressed you with their toughness?

Kathy: KIM BASINGER MOST DEFINITELY.

Dennis: Your favorite fruit?

Kathy: Honey Crisp Apples when they are available. They are grown in Minnesota I think.

Dennis: Your favorite Veggie?

Kathy: KALE, you have to try my recipe KATHY’S KALE.

Dennis: I heard you were a Kale fanatic, my dad is a Swiss Chard lover so I can relate, sort off.

Kathy: I am a proponent of the nutrition powerhouse that is Kale and it is important in the diet of my children.

Dennis: Final Question Kathy, if you led a double life what would be you secret profession?

Kathy: I would be right here in New York City on Broadway! Theatre! Always Moving Dennis!

OK. So there is this new study out there that was conducted through Nutrisystem by using their Diet Index. It proves that over 50 percent of women would rather give up sex for the summer than gain 10 pounds. Interesting. The study also includes men, and, shockingly, some guys said they’d do the same. Did the world just stop turning?

I’ve been blessed with pretty good genes. My weight fluctuates around three to four pounds and I am able to get it under control fairly easily. But after reading a few articles, I got to thinking. If I was unable to keep my weight under control, or was constantly fluctuating between a higher amount of weight like 10 and 20 pounds, what would I give up to keep it in check?

It certainly wouldn’t be coffee: let’s just get real here. And I’m not going to even go there with the whole sex thing: way too personal people. I can’t very well give up something I don’t like. I have to play fair.

So, I think I would give up watching my favorite channel on TV. I don’t watch a lot of television, but when I do, you can bet my TV is turned on to HGTV. My husband and I just recently bought a house and I love watching the shows to get ideas for our new home. It’s a guilty pleasure. I can park myself in front of the tube for hours watching the programs. I love it. It would be a hard luxury to give up.

I was a bit sad thinking about the article. Most people would give up things that make them happy rather than change their way of life for the better. To me, it seemed that more people were concerned with their appearance than their overall health. A person’s self image is important, but in America, many people tend to worry more about what other’s think than how they think and feel about themselves. Thank TV, magazines and movies for that one. We are showed that how we look, what we have and who are friends are is more important that health and overall happiness. That’s just sad.

But, it is what it is. Now the question is turned to Fat Man Unleashed readers. What you would give up? And you have to play by the rules. Don’t say you’d give up going to work. Who wouldn’t?

This was during NBC’s Sunday night football telecast of the 2010 NFL Hall of Fame football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cincinnati Bengals. The minute he said that, they cut to a shot of Phillips looking slimmer. They also joked about him saying that he was hoping to keep off at least 8 to 10 lbs of it during the season.

I don’t know if this was some clever way of getting the word out by Nutrisystem or if it was just some thing that happened. I know that commentators often get tidbits and facts about players and coaches that they then use during slow action of a game, so maybe that was the case here. I dunno…

I kind of feel honored to be on Nutrisystem, having lost 5 lbs so far since I’ve been on it, I feel as if I am in great company. Nutrisystem has definitely done a great job of marketing to the male demographic by getting well-known sports (primarily NFL) players to be their spokesman. It sure calls my attention whenever I see Dan Marino, Curt Menefee or the all mighty, incomparable Chris Berman telling me how much weight they’ve lost while on Nutrisystem. Here’s a list of celebrities that have lost weight with Nutrisystem.

One thing I would like to know is: How long was Wade Phillips on Nutrisystem? What plan was he on? What was his favorite meal? Did he do any exercise? What are his thoughts about “the system”?

Maybe one day we’ll find out…

She is a board certified clinical nutritionist, certified diabetes educator and exercise physiologist. In a recent interview with Fat Man Unleashed writer Elizabeth Perez, Dean answered some lingering questions on weight loss, metabolisms and workout plans.

Question: Tell me how you got started in this field.

Answer: In a nutshell, I always found health science fascinating. I didn’t want to be a doctor but I was really interested in how science applied to health. I thought it was very interesting.

Q: What has this knowledge and particular career choice allowed you to do or achieve?

A: It is a real shift in thinking. I would say my role is to ask, ‘why is this happening,’ not ‘how can we mask this.’ My job allows me to put everything together and understand a story, not a symptom. My approach is to understand the root issues and why they are happening to the body. You don’t have the dumbed-down protocols, like, what medicine can I prescribe to fix this. It really requires integrating the story to get the big picture.

Q: Out of all the patients you see who want to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle, would you say there are any common traits that exist?

A: I have definitely seen a common way of thinking in patients who have had gastric bypass surgery. This is generally speaking, but the mentality is, ‘once I have the surgery everything is taken care of,’ but that is not the case. I see depression a lot in these patients as a result of this. Also, people who come to me have a commonality of leaving nutrition as the last resort. Nine out of 10 people have exhausted their resources but have not changed the way they eat. I have heard so many stories of people who have been through so much without having been advised on their diets. If people could learn to start with natural medicines rather than pharmacology, we’d also save on health care costs.

Q: Tell me some of the differences between how men lose weight and how women lose weight. Are there major differences in metabolisms? Do hormones play a big role?

A: Because men in general have more muscle mass than women and muscle is really metabolically active, and there are powerhouses in muscles that burn calories, a man’s metabolism is generally higher than a woman’s. This is why it is so important for women to lift weights.

Since I am not a medical doctor, it is not my territory to tell a person to take a medicine or not take a medicine. But, for a woman, the more hormones you pump into her body, the harder it is for her to lose weight. Being estrogen dominant can thwart your weight loss. This even includes birth control and dairy and meat products that are filled with hormones. If you eat a ton of nonorganic dairy and lots of steak it’s going to be tough for you to lose weight. Think of it like an in-out model. Control what is coming in by eating right so the liver can detoxify. Some good foods to help with this are cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts. Also, onions and garlic are powerful liver detoxifiers.

Q: Would you recommend any power foods for men and women who want to reach a weight loss goal?

A: It’s not really that simple but there are things that can help. Green tea is something that can help boost your metabolism. But you can’t eat a gallon of ice cream and think drinking a cup of green tea will help. Food in general doesn’t have a natural metabolism boosting qualify, but some foods have been proven to have anti-inflammatory qualities such as omega-3 fish oils, turmeric, pomegranates, walnuts, avocados and tart cherry juice. When you eat these foods along with a healthy diet it can make a huge difference.

Q: There are a lot of workout plans out there and finding the right one can be overwhelming. What advice do you have for people when it comes to finding a workout plan that is right for each individual person?

A: First, ask yourself what you like to do. If you hate to swim, don’t. If you love dancing, try finding a Zumba class. It really depends on your circumstances and immediate needs. Second, if you can’t answer the question of what you like to do, go buy a pedometer and a decent pair of sneakers and just start walking. Walk the first day as much as you normally do. Find your baseline and add a thousand steps the next day. Then and 2000 and keep working your way up.

Q: Losing weight is one thing but keeping it off is another. What would you say is the key factor in maintaining weight loss?

A: The bottom line is you need to change it up. If you get good at something, you’re going to plateau. You want to constantly challenge and confuse your muscles around every 6 weeks. This can be as simple as changing the mode of your workout or even the time of your workout.

Q: If you could offer one bit of advice when it comes to healthy living, what would it be?

A: I would say to focus on health, not diets you go on and eventually go off of. Make this a lifestyle change. I am a real believer in a whole foods diet. I can’t stand processed foods. Avoid artificially colored, flavored stuff. You’ve got to get it out.

Today was day 2 of my time here in California for the Nutrilite Sport Blogger Event. I’m going to keep this update brief, since it’s just too much info to post, plus I have to be downstairs in less than an hour for dinner (dont’ want to hold anyone up). It started with us meeting in the lobby at 7 AM. I met the other bloggers plus some of the Nutrilite Staff. We were driven to the Nutrilite Center for Optimal Health for our health assessments. I am looking forward to those results, which will be mailed to us.

Here is a group photo of us in front of the Nutrilite Center for Optimal Health:

After the health assessments we ate breakfast, which was delicious. We were then given a tour of the center by Bob Tully (I have pics and video of that too). After the tour we were shown a video that explained what Nutrilite is all about. I must say, it was impressive. They then brought in Bob Tully to talk about perfect balance, Dr. Duke Johnson, M.D. to speak about optimal health, Diane Paetz to speak about fitness, Micheline Vargas to speak about Nutrilite Sports Nutrition, Jenn Stuczynski (Olympic Silver Meal winning pole vaulter) and Tom O’Rourke (masters track cyclist and world-record holder) to discuss sports.

While the above few hours may seem overwhelming, they weren’t. Everything was done smoothly and the time just flew by. We even managed to get in a quick 10 minute workout! I broke a little sweat and so did a lot of the others.

After that we had lunch and some time to talk with Dr. Duke, Jenn Stuczynski, and Tom O’Rourke. Each shared some insight. Jenn and Tom had some great stories and Dr. Duke was very open about sharing his knowledge. We then departed for the Avia Hotel and set out for a group run/jog/walk. John and I decided to jog, while some of the more “in-shape” folks ran. Some people decided to just take a stroll around the area since it was a very beautiful day out.

So that brings me back to now… I am finishing up this post so that I can hop in the shower and meet everyone for dinner. The entire trip to this point has been amazingly eye opening and well worth it. I’ll leave you with a quote (albeit an extremely paraphrased quote) from Tom O’Rourke with regards to weight-loss.

If you want to lose weight, don’t set a goal of weight loss. Set a goal that you can achieve and the weight loss will come.

That really resonated with me because I’ve been there. When I set a goal of being able to do a pull up or being able to do 15 burpees, I have success on the scale and in the mirror. But when I only set weight related goals I tend to get absorbed in that and it really throws my off mentally.

With that said, I’m outty 5000!

Here is a list of the other attending bloggers, in no particular order. Be sure to check them out as they share their life experiences.

But if you find something that you enjoy and look forward to, it will be easier for you to make time for it. We all make time to eat; mostly because it is a fabulous pastime. But the other end of the spectrum is oftentimes harder to enjoy. By taking part in an exercise routine that you loathe, chances are slim that you will continue to do it.

What you are passionate about? Did you used to play a sport in your younger years? If so, try to fit some aspect of that into your workout. If baseball or softball was your game, swing a weighted bat. If you enjoy football, have a friend throw the ball to you as you sprint to catch it. Find a way to fit what you like into your workouts, and you will do more of them.

Another good thing to remember is that if you do the same routine over and over again, you are going to get bored. Chances are that you would not read the same book over and over again. You already know what is going to happen; there is no excitement. Try to mix it up and do something a little different each time you are working out. You will use different muscles and gain strength in different parts of your body. Plus, you will find that by doing various activities, your interest in being active will spike.

There are so many activities that you can do that will help you lose weight and get in shape. No matter what you enjoy doing, be creative and mold the pastime that you love into a fitness routine that will keep you slim, and keep you motivated.

Let the Michael Vick sweepstakes begin! After serving his 23 month federal prison term for the killing and abuse of dogs the ultra athletic Vick will no doubt be selling his services to the highest bidder. Please contact all free spending NFL owners, i.e. Daniel Snyder Washington Redskin owner.

Michael Vick has served his time and National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell has weighed in following a meeting with Vick earlier this week. The commish is handing down a four or even six game suspension…ouch! Vick can participate in preseason games and practice during the four to six game regular season suspension. So who’s going to roll the dice on Mike Vick?

Al Davis and the Raiders perhaps? Vick would look sleek, stealthy and deadly in the Silver and Black. Vick was a “Raider” in high school when he played for Warwick High in Virginia. An option closer to home for Vick, a Virginia native (Newport News to be exact, Allen Iverson’s hometown as well) are the Carolina Panthers. Jake Delhomme’s sub par performance and injuries have sounded the alarms in Charlotte. A dark horse could be the Baltimore Ravens, even though Joe Flacco seems to be Mr. Franchise.

But ultimately my instincts tell me that the Washington Redskins might be courting Mike Vick harder than the rest of the possibilities. Jason Campbell is some what of an enigma to Redskin fans. Is he a star on the cusp or a bust with a few years of dust? Besides that Daniel Snyder truly likes to make a splash…he will be the modern day age Al Davis mark my words. Hey Vick would be the perfect edition to the freak show that is D.C., I am referring to the politicians. The Redskin’s headquarters and training facilities are at Redskin Park in Ashburn, Virginia, a town in Loudon County, not to far from Dulles International Airport. The location of the Redskins along with the team’s needs seem to combine to create a logical fit for Vick. Didn’t Washington D.C. former mayor Marion Barry get arrested recently for stalking a woman? Legendary material you simply can’t make this stuff up. Add on Washington’s politically incorrect mascot with the surefire ribbing that will come from the supporters of P.E.TA. and you have a witches brew for the Redskin front office.

The Redskin’s media department will have to answer to animal lovers worldwide as well. Could the bad press end the Redskin’s eight year NFL attendance record? The Redskin’s are the most profitable franchise in the NFL currently so do you really want to fool with that revenue stream with the signing of a dog-fighting felon? Daniel Snyder would. Hail to the Redskins my friends! Would it be insane if the NFL had a dog themed team…or mascot and Vick played for them. Imagine the dog pound in Cleveland…don’t know if Vick could be a Brown for that reason. Maybe Virginia Tech and the Hokies will take Mike Vick back…just a thought.

So let’s tackle the burning question every owner and fan has: can Michael Vick perform on the gridiron?

You may have just read the title to this blog and are left wondering “What does this have to do with weight loss?” Well my answer to that question is, “It has everything to do with it!” Did you know that 2/3 of America is considered obese? Which is not surprising being that we no longer have to fight, hunt, and kill to get our food. No not at all, we live in a time of fast food and microwaves. It’s sad to say but we as humans try to find the easiest and fastest but yet not so beneficial way to do everything.

Our bodies are set up naturally to cheat, and find the easy way out of things. Billions of dollars are spent every year on technologies that makes things easier and more accessible. Things like cars, planes, computers, telephones etc. Technology does make our lives easier but it will do so at a cost. We’ve paid the price with our health, and fitness; our bodies have dealt with the burden and have paid the cost. America as a whole has become over fat, and extremely lazy.

America is in a depression but whose fault is that? The fault belongs to each and everyone of us. We as individuals have not taken care of ourselves, our families, our jobs, nor have we taken care of our country. If you study history you will find that in the great depression it was not the government that fixed things, it was we the people that came together and fought for a change to be made. We the people are the one’s responsible for the mess in this country, and I believe it is wrong of us to place blame on any political person in government.

Government is there to make laws, rules, and regulations, but those are made by the demands of we the people. It was we the people who fought against slavery, racism, women’s right, gay’s rights, animal cruelty, tax regulation, etc. It is we the people that put politicians in government to fight for what we the people want. But we the people have become to fat and lazy to step in and fix things ourselves. We would rather live average and ordinary lives, and let the government magically make things all better. Sorry to tell yah but, “It ain’t gonna happen.”

To make a real change in America, each of us individually need to live our lives to the best of our ability. Anything we do needs to be the best we can do. I strongly believe that if we do not take control of ourselves, and if we do not become the master of our own lives. Then anything we do, know matter how great a job it is will never be done to the best of your ability. I believe that 2/3 of this country are not performing at there best, therefore our country is spiraling downward at top speeds.

We are living in a blessed nation, and the generations before us worked hard and worked there best to make this country what it is today. But this new generation has taken all of that for granted and has sat back and watched as America has crumbled. Now ask yourself, what can I do to make a real positive CHANGE???? The answer is simple to say but difficult to do.

Become the master of your life, and take control of your surroundings. If you’re over fat then lose weight, if you’re weak then get stronger, and search for every flaw you can find in yourself and make ways to improve them. Do what you know you need to do, and stop doing what you know you shouldn’t be doing. If we plan on pulling America out of this depression, then each of us individually need to grab the steering wheel and take control. Once you have done this then spread the word to each and every individual you may know.

This country needs to be restored and we must start from the inside and work our way out. My goal in life is to inspire as many people as a can to make this change in their lives. I truly believe that success is in us all, we just have to want it bad enough. When we all individually work at our best, then together we can make a real and lasting change. United we stand, divided we fall.
