You may have heard of The Flex Belt, the first ab belt approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) for abdominal toning, or maybe you haven’t. I’ll be honest, I’ve heard of it before, but I never paid much attention to it. I was very skeptical of any thing that claimed to tone abdominal muscles without cutting sugars and carbs and without intense workouts.

According the The Flex Belt website, the device uses muscle stimulation to firm and strengthen the abdominal muscles, and 100 percent of people who have used it correctly, reporter flatter, firmer ad muscles. It is approved by the FDA as a class II medical device that uses Electronic Muscle Stimulation, giving people an average increase in ab strength of 49 percent. My skepticism is slowly fading away.

Apparently, you wear the ab belt and signals are sent to the ab muscles which cause the muscles to contract and relax, reaching all areas of the abs. The thought of my muscles being zapped by some form of stimulation can be a little unnerving, but the website states that it is a pleasant feeling, which resembles a mild “pulsing” that is “apparent.”

Underneath each Flex Belt are gel pads stick to your skin and help conduct the signals that are being sent to your abs through the ab belt. The Flex Belt website says that the success of the Flex Belt relies heavily upon the quality of the gel pads that are being used, and recommends that users of the ab belt replace the gel pads every 20 to 30 uses. I’ve gotta say, that would be a drawback for me. But, if this ab belt truly works, I would not mind shelling out the cash to replace the gel pads if it accelerated or improved my individual results.

The price for the ab belt is just at $200, which again, seems steep, but if the results are real, $200 would not be bad if it saved you from neck-breaking crunches and roller-coaster dieting. The good thing about The Flex Belt is that there is a very user-friendly website that seems to answer all the main questions that consumers have. Included on the site are testimonials, frequently asked questions, numbers and email addresses that let you connect with people who can answer your questions, and even an area where you can buy accessories or more gel pads for your ab belt.

While I generally don’t believe everything I see or fall for the next “gimmick,” I have to admit that the evidence of the success of the Flex Belt is swaying my opinion of this medical toning device. While I do not have an extra $200 laying around at the moment to purchase the Flex Belt, I would love to try one out.

Have you used the Flex Belt or other ab belts and want to share your results with Fat Man Unleashed? Take a moment to fill out the comments section below and let us know! How has the ab belt worked for you or failed you?

Wow. I just got my new rubber gym mats from Treadall and I am totally impressed. I was looking for a nice quality flooring that would be comfortable, functional and easy on the eyes, and I definitely found what I was looking for.

Take a look at the before pictures of our garage. Nothing special, right? We had all our equipment on the concrete which was not very functional. The barbells always rolled around, the free weights were always clanking onto the floor and it was always dusty and dirty. On top of that, when I wanted to jump rope or use the medicine ball for ab workouts, I had to leave the garage and go into the spare bedroom. No fun.

Now look at our garage now. The flooring from Treadall is down and looks great. Installation was extremely easy, but the mats are not light by any sense of the word. Laying the flooring was for sure a two man job. My husband did all the heavy lifting and helped when I could. Once you get the mats positioned where you want them, you simply fit the ends together like puzzle pieces. That’s pretty much it.

I noticed that after we got the flooring down, there was a lot of sand and leaves on top of the mats from us having our garage door open and moving the mats around. I wondered how cleaning the surface of the Treadall flooring would go, and I literally took a broom and swept the mess away. Love that! I can already see a huge cut back on dust and dirt in the area where the flooring was put down.

We chose the mats from Treadall in a teal color, which I really like. There are other color options available for you if you are looking for something other than teal.

As I said earlier, I am totally impressed with the final product of these mats. I wasn’t sure what I would be getting, but I could not have asked for a better material for our home gym. I highly recommend Treadall to anyone who is looking to purchase and install gym mats.

I recently participated in the Plus Up Your Gym Bag Makeover in which I was sent a gift card so that I can upgrade my gym bag. This was going to be a relatively easy upgrade, since I don’t have a gym bag to begin with. I work out at home for the most part, so it makes it really easy for me to not have to take anything with me. I was originally going to make a video about this whole fun project, but the audio was damaged.

FiberPlus Taste Test
Part of the promotion was that I had to try out the new Kellogg’s FiberPlus bars. I received a coupon to go buy a box of bars, which I did at the local Super Walmart. I chose the chocolate chip version. I let my wife try the bars out first. She didn’t like them. I tried them after a workout and thought they tasted good. It was very light and had a good amount of carbs. One of the positives of the FiberPlus bars is that they have antioxidants.

According to the Kellogg’s FiberPlus site “Many Americans aren’t getting enough fiber, whole grains, vitamins and minerals daily. With 35% of your daily fiber, 7 grams of whole grains, plus antioxidants vitamin E and zinc, these bars are a nutritious—and delicious—high-fiber treat.” Look’s like another way to combat the lack of nutrition that is rampant in America.

Plus Up MY Gym Bag
I immediately set out to upgrade my fitness tools. I have pretty much everything I need minus a few things I’ve been wanting, so this was the perfect time. The first thing I purchased was a heart rate monitor. This will let me keep track of my calorie expenditure plus my heart rate. Next I purchased a yoga mat. The days of doing yoga on a hard, cold floor are over! I also purchased a fanny pack. lol. Now I actually have a gym bag to hold my stuff. I occasionally go to the gym to hop on the elliptical or go on long walks. Now I can carry stuff with me in my “gym bag”. I also purchased a new pair of shorts. My other pair was starting to fall apart. The last thing I purchased was a Live Strong band. I try to make living strong a habit of mine.

The Giveaway!
Okay now here’s the fun part. We are giving away a $75 American Express gift card to one lucky winner. The contest is running from today until Oct 18th. The winner will be announced on Oct. 19th. To Enter:

Are you rushing around in the morning? Do you find yourself always missing breakfast? Are you constantly stopping off at that local coffee shop for an overpriced latte that just doesn’t satisfy your hunger?

Well, Herbalife may be your beacon in the night…er morning.

The Herbalife healthy meal nutritional shake mix may be just what you’ve been looking for to give you that extra oomph in the morning. It is packed full of vitamins and minerals (if taking vitamins on an empty stomach bothers you, you may want to eat a banana or piece of toast with it to avoid an upset stomach) and doesn’t taste half bad either. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t taste like an iced, two-pump vanilla latte with extra whipped cream, but it goes down easy. I was expecting a chalky, protein shake taste, but it wasn’t like that. I still can’t quite put my finger on the taste. But it was enjoyable.

Mixing up the shake in the morning takes all of about five seconds. You add two heaping tablespoons of the powder to eight ounces of cold milk, and viola! Breakfast is served! The good thing about the shake is that, mixed with eight ounces of nonfat milk, it registers at 170 calories and one gram of fat. It also has nine grams of protein, which is more than you’ll get from drinking a latte alone for breakfast.

As a guide, the container offers some tips on using the shake. It gives tips for best results, weight loss, healthy nutrition and weight management. Herbalife does recommend adding additional protein to your diet, whether in the form of a protein powder or lean, high protein food sources.

Try it out for yourself and see what you think. Your latte breakfasts could be a thing of the past!

You can find it on Herbalife’s website here.

I just finished the book I’m with Fatty by Ed Ugel. I have to say, it is an entertaining read, but there were times when I was uncomfortable. Call me old fashioned (which no doubt I am) but there are some things you just don’t talk about, let alone share with the world in a book. But that is just me.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not an uptight, purse-lipped, no-time-for-fun, all work, no play kind of gal. There were many times when Ugel’s wit and sense of dealing with his situation had me laughing out loud. There is no denying he is funny. I like the way his mind works. He starts off with one innocent thought and that thought quickly evolves into a whole mess of ideas. It’s entertaining. But, I will say that hearing the details of how he ever-so-sweetly tried to rest his testicles on his sleeping friend’s head (who turned out to be a total stranger, mind you) was just a bit too much. But who I am to judge.

After finding out that he suffers from Sleep Apnea – a condition in which you stop breathing while sleeping – and being doomed to wearing a CPAP mask (much to his own disgust and his wife’s as well) for the rest of his life, Ugel decides to change some things about himself. Ugel, who is both self-proclaimed and medically proclaimed to be a food addict and compulsive eater, embarked on a journey to lose “50 pounds in 50 miserable weeks” (as the cover of the book cleverly states). While he didn’t quite reach his goal, he came pretty darn close. Ugel lost 46 pounds in 50 weeks.

For anyone who is struggling with weight loss or finds comfort in food, Ugel’s book offers some great insight and advice for overcoming these issues. And for Ugel, it’s not just about giving up foods he loves and rearranging his life to fit in visits with trainers and nutritionists, it’s about finding out why he finds comfort in food and why he is a compulsive eater.

As he begins to tackle the issues and see why he is the way he is, he also discovers he has a love for playing racquetball, and enjoys being at the gym. It’s a definite positive step in the right direction, and he even begins to lose some serious weight.

About three quarters of the way through the book, just when you think he has beaten the odds, Ugel’s wife and two daughters go on vacation to Maine, and Ugel goes on a week-long binge of fatty, processed foods and pints (yes, I said pints with an s) of ice cream. I was so mad at him. He had been doing so well. He’d even gone as far as to do a cleanse (nothing but juices for a week) and get a colonic. Yikes. Talk about dedication. As I sat there reading about the $40 worth of Chinese take-out, Filets-O-Fish and walnut Danish rings, I wanted to grab him by his shoulders and shake him.

With the binge behind him, and his family back home, Ugel gets back on track and focuses on meeting his goal. Although he falls short in the end, he pulled of an amazing feat and truly changed his life. Those 46 pounds – and the unsightly CPAP machine – are a thing of the past.

I definitely think I’m with Fatty is worth reading, but keep in mind that it isn’t for the faint of heart, and I most certainly would not give the book to a kid or even young teen to read. But, if you’re looking for something to keep you laughing and even make you a bit uncomfortable, grab a copy and check it out. At the very least, you’ll get an up close and personal look at what it’s like to get your colon cleansed.

About a week ago I reached for my multivitamin and realized my supply was running low. I needed to reorder.

Not remembering where I originally ordered the vitamins from, I got online and began searching. That’s when I came across Swanson Vitamins.

I had not heard of the company before, but according to their website, they have been in business since ’69. I checked out reviews and they have a great overall rating. I decided I would give them my business.

The site is laid out very nicely, and it is easy to find what you are looking for. If you have a certain item in mind, simply enter it in the search field in the top left, and the results will pop up for you.

Seeing as how I wasn’t quite sure which vitamins I would purchase, I clicked on the Vitamins and Supplements tab and scrolled down to Women’s Health. From there, I found the Multivitamin and Mineral Formulas tab and proceeded to see what my choices would be.

After reading the product reviews and comparing prices from several of the multi products, I decided on the Swanson brand Women’s Prime Multi. I was impressed by what other consumers had to say, the price and the amount of vitamins per bottle: 90 versus 60 from my previous multi.

My curiosity heightened by the reviews and ease of the site, I clicked in the search bar looking for Green Tea Extract. My results were quickly displayed, and I was surprised to see the Swanson brand extract at a very cheap price with stellar reviews. I added it to my cart.

While further surfing the site, I browsed at various items included the Branch Chain Amino Acids, CoQ10 and Ubiquinol. I decided on the Amino Acids and processed my order.

Within three days my purchases arrived and were neatly packaged, which was perfect timing as I had one day left of my original vitamins.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchases from Swanson. I would recommend the site to anyone who is looking for new health products. They also have a great blog that is full of information you may find useful.

Check back in a few weeks for an update on my progress with the new supplements.

One of the hardest things for me to do is muster up the energy to workout.

I am not a morning person so early morning workouts are not an option. I like sleeping too much to even consider the idea. I actually prefer to workout at night, but because the endorphins kick in and I get a big rush of energy, it keeps me up late and then I am even worse in the morning (yes, honey, it is possible for me to be an even worse morning person than I already am). The only option left is for me to workout after I get home from my job. And it ain’t easy.

Getting home from a stressful, eight hour workday and being motivated to workout is about as fun as going to the dentist. Sometimes getting over that hill of laziness and exhaustion is downright impossible. I usually rely on a hot cup of green tea to lift my level of energy, but as I live in Florida and it is summertime, I wanted something cold that could be made quickly. I began searching for something to give me that extra umph I needed to get me through my workouts.

I came across a fairly new product called EBOOST and decided I’d give it a try. EBOOST comes in small, individual packets that you add to water and drink. I sampled the pink lemonade flavor and was pleasantly surprised. It has a nice taste, and the effervescent crystals feel like they work the second they hit your taste buds. It was very easy to drink.

A few minutes went by and I noticed an increased energy level and was ready – almost excited – to workout. I was shocked. EBOOST even gave me the vigor I needed to get through the entire workout. Pretty good stuff.

Upon doing research of the ingredients, I did come across an issue with one of the listed products called 5-HTP. According to WebMD, it seems as though there may have been an issue with a contamination of 5-HTP which causes eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome, a very serious medical condition. Before I freaked out and called an ambulance, I researched further and found that chemical contamination from one single producer in the late 80s was the cause of the scare. Since then, there has not be one related medical problem for consumers of 5-HTP. And with its continued use and popularity, many people are using and researching the ingredient. Shwew. Instantly relieved.

Other ingredients for EBOOST include 1000 milligrams of Vitamin C (1,667 percent of your daily value), green tea extract, grape seed extract and various other vitamins. Serving suggestion is one packet in eight ounces of water every 12 hours or as needed. It states not to exceed more than four packets a day.

I will say that after my workout I did feel a bit of a crash, but nothing like what I feel after chugging an energy drink or even drinking a cup of coffee. And the crash may have been related to the hardcore workout I had just done.

Overall, I think EBOOST is a good way to give yourself an extra kick before a workout. For me, I don’t think it is something I would want to get into the habit of taking as an everyday supplement, as I prefer to get vitamins from a women’s multi and my energy from green tea. But this is definitely something I will keep in my pantry for those days when working out seems like it just won’t happen.

Special thanks to Savannah from EBOOST for answering a few questions for my review.

But before you plug your nose in anticipation of the smell, just know that I have taken necessary precautions to ensure that no one gets a whiff of my sockless-sneaker-feet. I have applied a new anti friction powder to the inside of my shoes.

Yes. An anti friction powder. And what is the name of the said powder, you ask? Lady Anti Monkey Butt Powder.

I’ll admit I was skeptical at first. Although the name is catchy and the bottle is too cute for words (I love the strand of pearls around Ms. Monkey’s neck and her hot pink fingernails and toenails), I thought, ‘it is probably no different than any other moisture-absorbing powder on the market.’ But it is different.

The powder has a much nicer smell than normal powders, almost reminding me of that fresh cleaned laundry smell. It is also extremely silky and smooth.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Maybe the secret is in the ingredients list. It boasts a “patented microparticle polymer” and “calamine powder.” Now, I am no moisture-absorbing-powder-expert, but I do not recall seeing the above mentioned ingredients in similar powders. This may call for a little research.

But not to worry boys. Don’t feel left out. If you tend to get extra sweaty during a hardcore workout, fear not; Anti Monkey Butt Powder is available for men (and babies), too.

According to the label on the Lady Anti Monkey Butt Powder bottle, it “minimizes the frictional discomfort that women often experience when using exercise equipment, running, driving, cycling or just walking.” The label states that it can be used to absorb sweat and cool areas prone to rubbing such as the inner thighs. Although I wanted to test this theory for myself, I am not a person who sweats a lot when I work out. I had to consult other sources.

My husband works out almost everyday in our home gym and when he is finished, he is drenched in sweat. His face, armpits, back, legs: soaked. So, naturally, I consulted him to be my guinea pig and try the powder out for its intended purpose. He applied the powder prior to working out and when he completed his routine, I asked him what he thought.

“It’s nice,” he said. Being a man of few words, I had to press him for a bit more information. “I didn’t feel as sweaty and it smells good.”

I knew I had extracted all the information from him that I was going to get. But I also knew that Anti Monkey Butt Powder most be pretty good for him to say that much about it.

Overall, I am impressed. I am athletic and have various pieces of sports equipment (softball gloves, workout gloves, shoes, bags) and I will be applying Anti Monkey Butt Powder to it all.

And, like the bottle states, “indoors or outdoors, work or play, or on occasions when you’re on your butt all day. Don’t let your buns get red. Use Anti Monkey Butt Powder instead.”

I have recently been getting my supplements and accessories from America’s Nutrition. These guys have got everything you could possibly need for your body’s growth and development. From weight loss and body building, vitamins, supplements, bath and beauty, sexual health, and even more!! I was quite impressed by their customer service. Their delivery was quick and the products were packaged well.

I had to try out one of those blender bottles. Some mornings when I’m on the go, I just don’t have the time to use the blender, and trying to stir whey powder into water is more difficult than it seems. This bottle has a spiral whisk inside to stir the powder in. It works the same way as a can of spray paint, just shake it up and down and the whisk blends it together. The great thing about it is I can just pore in a bottle of cold water with a scoop of protein and I blend it on my way out of the house. It’s perfect!

I also got some new workout gloves with wrist stabilizers. These gloves make you feel powerful, the moment I put them on I felt like I could lift the world! I snapped back to reality after trying to lift up my Honda lol! I nearly pulled my shoulders out of place but don’t worry people my wrists were ok. And when I forget to bring them to the gym it feels like a part of me is missing.

I also tried out their weight loss supplements, they primarily use Ephedra. There is a lot of negativity surrounding Ephedra. What used to be in the products was Ephedrine, which was also known as Alkaloids. That was banned by the FDA several years ago because people were abusing it and it was causing heart problems. What is in products now is the Ephedra extract. It’s still Ephedra but it’s taken from a different part of the plant.

Of course there will be people who abuse it and it can cause them harm. Even taking things like Advil can cause damage to your organs and that is recommended by doctors. However, those who follow the recommended dosage will reap the benefits. From what I’ve heard, the extract isn’t as potent as the alkaloids, but it still gives similar results. The energy these things give me is ridiculous! I like taking Liquid Fire right before I go for a jog it increases my energy and stamina and helps to push me further then I would have normally gone.

If you’re interested I suggest you go to their website at www.americasnutrition.com.

In the beginning, I was not very knowledgeable in the area of health, so I just thought to starve myself. After taking time to read magazines, books, watch videos, and just talk to people about weight loss I learned I was making numerous mistakes. Once I educated myself on how to eat five to six meals a day every two to three hours apart, it all started to come together.

The problem that many people face is the amount of time needed to prepare, cook, and package their food for the next day. To make things a little more challenging, try accomplishing all that while married with children, working a job, or running business. Our spouses can try to help as much as possible, but in this generation both wife and husband have to rake in the bacon.

So I finally decided to try BistroMD, it is a weight loss company that sells gourmet style prepackaged health foods. I have been eating their food for the past few days and I am impressed with their frozen entrees. My favorite so far would have to be the breakfast meal called “Mixed Berry Crepe.” I have never even heard of a crepe until that early morning, and I must say was I fascinated with my new discovery. I have tried Jenny Craig so I have something to compare BistroMD with, and honestly their frozen products are definitely a step up.

The meals are delicious, considering that these are frozen fat scorching meals right out the box. The frozen foods can be put in the microwave three or four minutes for convenience, but if you have time available you can put it in the oven. The shipping was right on time and packaged neatly in a nice Styrofoam container. Although I noticed the outer cardboard packaging does not have the name of the meal, so therefore you need to pull the box out of the freezer to see what you have. You should be able to open the freezer, see the name on the box, and grab exactly what you want (just a suggestion I am sure they will make that adjustment soon).

As far as the snacks go, they are good but not the type snacks your average person would buy at his or her local grocery store. These are gourmet style snacks so that explains their uniqueness. I enjoyed the bottled protein shack, very quick and easy to use, just add eight ounces of water in the bottle shake it up and you’re done. The snack bars are very flavorful, but they can leave a dry after feeling in your mouth. No biggie, I just ate it with a glass of cold almond milk and it was very appetizing. I could feel the nutrients spreading right away all through my body; it was great after my tough workout.

DR. Phil calls them “The Best Home Meal Delivery Available,” if you are interested you can order online at their website www.BistroMD.com.

I’ve been meaning to post this review for a few months now. I’ve been wearing athletic compression shirts since before Under Armour made it cool. I used to wear these Lycra material shirts that were originally designed to go out clubbing at night. They were tight fitting and made for muscle bound guys. One day during football practice in 40 degree weather I decided to wear one instead of a T-Shirt, since T-shirts would hold sweat and stink.

MSRP: $20, Comfortable, Flexible, Durable.

That was then, this is now. I’ve been through just about every type of compression shirt that’s made. I have several brands: Champion, Reebok, Nike, Under Armour, Adidas, and the list goes on. All are neatly folded in my clothes drawer, unused for many months. Why? Because of my KAOS Komfort Level 2 LS Top. That’s why!

This thing has got to be one of the most comfortable shirts, not just compression shirt, that I’ve worn in a long time. I’ve worn this thing for just about everything! And that is not an exaggeration. I’ve ran in my KAOS Komfort. I’ve done burpees. I’ve walked. I’ve lifted weights. I’ve just worn it to wear it. I’ve worn it to Wal-Mart. My KAOS has even been to play paintball with me. It’s truly a comfortable piece of clothing.

The type of KAOS I have is not the super type form fitting one, it’s a more loose fit. It’s extremely breathable. Ridiculously almost. It allows me to sweat as much as I want without overheating or feeling discomfort from a sweat-soaked shirt. There was one day when I wore my KAOS underneath a sweatshirt. I still felt comfort. When I received it I put it on right away and felt as if I was wearing some type of baby soft material. It’s almost unexplainable how it feels. It’s so soft and smooth that my 5 year old kid put it on and didn’t want to give it back because “it feels so comfy.” Her words, not mine. I’ve since washed the shirt several times and it continues to feel as smooth and comfortable as it did on day one.

One of the best things about it is that it doesn’t hold the funk. I purposely wore it for a week worth of workouts without washing it in-between sessions. Guess what? It didn’t get that sweat induced funk that other compression shirts are prone to getting after just one workout. That is a thumbs up for me. There is one thing that I found weird, but it’s nothing bad. When I first received the shirt, the new clothing smell it had was weird, nothing bad. Just weird. You can easily machine-wash it to get rid of the new shirt smell if it bothers you too much. I didn’t have to, since at the time I figured my sweat would stink up the shirt and mask the original weird scent. Which, as I described above, it didn’t.

The company was founded by former NFL wide receiver Bert Emanuel and his wife Teri. I think that his training experience lends itself very well to creating such a great product. I see this company as one of the top-tier compression clothing companies around. If they aren’t bought-out and absorbed by one of the other big name companies, I expect to see their name hit the mainstream soon.

You can pick up some KAOS Komfort Shirts ($20) at KAOS Komfort‘s website. Be sure to read more about their company too. Pretty interesting stuff.

This is going to be a simple, straight forward review of the Sony W Series Walkman MP3. Let me start off by saying that I own an 80 GB Ipod. Working out with that thing is a pain in the butt. Having to continuously make sure it’s secure in my pocket or that the wires aren’t tangled can get old, fast. This wireless MP3 player is the best MP3 player I’ve ever used for working out. Period.

MSRP Price: $59.95, Wireless, 2 GB, Water-resistant, Quick-charging, Light-weight. Colors: Black or Pink, Model Number: NWZ-W252BLK

I could easily end my review right there, but I won’t.

Okay, so let’s start. I’m not the kind of person that reads instruction manuals so I bypassed all of that. It is included in the packaging if that’s your thing, though. Included in the package is the MP3 player, USB wire, extra earbuds, a plastic clip for storing, and the usual paperwork that accompanies electronics of this sort.

So I open this thing and am just looking at it in amazement. It’s a pretty. I almost wanted to put it on a mantle and admire it’s design. Very elegant and slick. Reminds me of something a secret agent the caliber of James Bond would wear during a workout or special ops training session. I read the back cover of the package and it says something about easy music transferring. That’s music to my ears, pun intended, since I do not like reading instructions. So I plug the USB wire into the Walkman and into my computer. As soon as my computer picked up the new device I simply transferred over some music files by dragging and dropping them into the Walkman’s folder. Simple. It was almost too easy. So within 5 minutes of opening the package I had music on my new wireless Walkman that was charged up and ready to go within that time.

After transferring the files I immediately unplugged it and put it on. The earbuds fit comfortably inside my ears. It was a good fit. The entire MP3 player sits comfortably around the back of your neck too. I walked around and then shook my head violently but the device did not fall off. So it’s perfect for working out whether you are jogging, sprinting, lifting weights or just taking a leisurely stroll. The fact that it’s wireless makes it one of the best workout MP3 players I’ve ever come across.

The controls are super simple. You can adjust the volume and change tracks with the easy push of a button located on one of the ear pieces. There’s a pause, shuffle, and Zappin feature as well. The sound quality is top notch. You can also transfer music from your Itunes library. The USB doubles as a charger for the device. There is an indicator light that lets you know if your battery is low. All this is covered in the instruction manual, but I figured I’d let you know.

I find myself wearing this even when I’m not working out. Is that weird? I hope not. I think I look like a secret agent when I’m wearing it. Either that or a complete dummy. Did I mention it’s water-resistant? How cool is that? Its especially cool for us profuse perspirers and those that workout rain, snow, sleet or hail. When you aren’t wearing it you can just connect the magnetic ends and it forms a cool heart shape. Pairing the magnetic ends also shuts off the MP3 player for battery saving. Pretty slick.

And last but not least, it’s heart shaped when not in use. You just gotta love it (conscientiously or sub-conscientiously)!

You can pick up the Sony W Series Walkman MP3 Player at Sony Style, Sony Style retail stores, and other authorized retailers nationwide.

I am a strong proponent of only drinking water. Juice is a no-no and soda is an absolute sin. Want to lose weight and be healthy? Then don’t consume any liquid besides water, Period, no if’s and or buts. Stop being a pansy and accept the fact that water is Nature’s most perfect beverage. After water whole fruits are an excellent source of liquid nourishment. But if you simply can not resist and must consume beverages other than water I have a few alternatives I can suggest. Maybe this can be a good way to ween off the naughty drinks such as soda, carbohydrate loaded, sugar filled, non-nourishing juices or heaven forbid you are addicted to those demonic energy drinks! Take a walk on the healthy side with me as your guide.

In my never dying quest to uncover the world’s most perfect beverage I have come upon a very interesting product. I am referring to Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng. Arizona has hit it out the ballpark with extremely refreshing tea drink. I love the fact that the product contains Green Tea which is a tremendous anti oxidant and immunity booster. Ginseng being an ingredient is a bonus but I not convinced that its presence isn’t merely in trace amounts. Nevertheless it is a nice touch. Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng delivers 25% of your daily intake of Vitamin C, which keeps you going during hard workouts or just a demanding day at the office. All these factors combined with the low sodium profile of this drink, 20 mg or 1% of your daily value, make Arizona’s newest concoction a winner.

On a warm day or after a workout it is unbelievably invigorating without the drag or let down of more sugary drinks. Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng actually contains about one gram of sugar per 8 ounce serving. Honey is used as a natural sweetener a truly great move. But alas all is not perfect, a closer look at the label reveals that Splenda, the sugar substitute, is utilized as well inn lieu of real sugar. I am not a proponent of Splenda and aim personally wary of the long term effects of man made sugar substitutes.

But if your looking for a zero calorie refresher Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng is your beverage.

Drink Arizona Diet Green Tea with Ginseng three times a day, once at 11:00am followed by a post lunch serving at 2:00pm and finally an after dinner serving at 6:30pm.

Pros
Taste Great
Contains Green Tea
Zero Calories, Zero Fat
Low in Sodium
Delivers 25% of you Vitamin C

Cons
Utilizes Splenda

So now that I have confronted the fact that I am a beverage fanatic and that my urge to constantly drink is a contributing factor to my over extended gut…what am I gonna do about it? Well drink more beverages of course..duh! I know that many others have the same addiction I have and that transitioning into healthier alternatives can be very difficult.

I have decided not to abandon my need to fill up and guzzle yummy drinks. Instead I will turn my unquenchable desire to liquify as a strength and find the perfect healthy beverage. I will research, review and share my better beverage choices. I attacked my research from the perspective that I am interested in longevity and I want to avoid diabetes at all cost. Diabetes has been prevalent in my family and I have witnessed extreme suffering due to the negative effects of that terrible disease.

I looked into what the incomparable and ageless Regis Philbin uses to stay so vibrant and discovered a product named NuVim. Regis was a good choice because he defines longevity and has been called “the hardest working man in show business.”

Regis even holds the Guinness World Record for the most time spent in front of a Televison camera. And most important of all Regis is from The Bronx like me…Raaarrr! So I hit the local Walmart and picked up four 64 oz. bottles of NuVim. Pretty affordable at $2.50 per 64 oz. bottle. It comes in three delicious flavors Orange Tangerine, Fruit Symphony, and Strawberry Vanilla. My personal favorite is Orange Tangerine because it taste exactly like a melted orange cream popsicle or similar to a Morir Sonado for all my Latinos. NuVim is comprised of NutraFlora which is its secret formula apparently. A major component is Whey Protein Concentrate, an awesome ingredient for health and wellness.

Besides having a light creamy flavor that induces you to drink more and more, I went through two bottles in one evening, NuVim is really good for you. NuVim’s consistency is light and on the watery side yet still retains a creamy milk feel in your mouth, that didn’t sound family friendly. To top it off NuVim does not cause any bloating.

So NuVim is a definite winner and must try. If it is out of stock at your local Walmart it’s probably beacuse I bought them all.

So drink and stay thirsty my friends.

If you visit the NuVim website, they are giving away free samples! Snatch them up quick!!!!

When to Take
Consume 10 ounces of Nuvim first thing when you wake up in the morning.
Drink 10 ounces before and after the working out as well.

Pros
100% of your daily value of Vitamin A (2823IU), Vitamin C (59 mg), Vitamin E (301 IU), Vitamin B12 (5 mcg) and Zinc (15 mg).

Low in Sodium – 70 mg , 3% of your daily intake

Low in Sugar, only 6 grams

Low in Carbohydrates 9 grams or 3% of daily value

Low in Calories a light 45 calories

No Lactose

No Fat

No Caffeine

No Artificial Flavors or Colors

Non filling, no bloating

Affordable

Cons
Just one–Product is hard to find in some markets and is usually low in stock even when you do find it.

This review is independent and was not solicited by Nuvim, Inc. We just like the damn product!

There they were, shiny, spacey and sure to make me the road burning stud I dreamed to be… The latest and greatest from the land of Japan the one and only Asics Gel-Kinsei 2. And what a better place to purchase these masterpieces of foot architecture than Champs Sports at Times Square New York, the center of the modern universe of course. Believe it or not it never felt so good to hand over $186.19 for a pair of sneakers. I chose the Red/Black/White color scheme as opposed to the Platinum/Brilliant Blue/Black available for men. The color option for women is cherry pink and white which looks quite dapper and cute I must say. I couldn’t help feeling like I was taking some sort of step towards becoming a better me or even perhaps greatness. These type of feelings hardly ever result in success keep that in mind.

One bonehead mistake though… I should have been smart enough to print out the online coupon available at Champssports.com that offers a $10.00 in store discount on any purchase over $75. The experience at Champs Sports was top of the line overall. Well trained and experienced floor teams guide you to the right product and make useful suggestions. Champs Sports could very well be the Best Buy of sports foot wear. Back to the shoes and my trial results, I really put this model through its paces. To earn a $179.99 price tag the shoes must bleed!

Asics Gel-Kinsei 2
Total trial hours: 270 hours

Grades, the Report Card
Coolest Feature: Asymmetrical Lacing System- Suppossed to Enhance the Biomorphic Fit by conforming to the bony architecture of the foot.

Lackluster Feature: Do you like the smell of cow dung? Then boy do I have the sneakers for you! Read on please, don’t judge me.

Sure to Fit: 3 The model runs a full size too large a definite draw back. In addition a nasty heel slippage issue in which the shoe does not remain on your heel during aggressive movement is a disappointing performance hindrance.

Washability: 7 Four washes in the rough cycle and the model kept its form and even gained a desirable worn softness in toe mesh and leather grain that added a flexible feel. The model brightened up to a crisp white without yellowing even after muddy trails.

Comfort: 5 Good heel strike feel with Gel technology. But then again that feature is negated with the heel slippage crisis. Not fitting to your foot within the realm of normalcy is a downer as well.

Ruggedness: 7 A tough pair of sneakers no doubt. The model proved its mettle on trails and pavement, heat and snow. Two quirks though: A horrible smell and loud sound. The model omits a pungent odor following wear. The smell must be a combination of glue and the usage of unorthodox materials in the mesh and leather. The model is also very loud on pavement which can be annoying. The model is too heavy. The weights contributes to its ruggedness but extra ounces can be a liability for long distance trainers. One last blemish to the model is the deterioration of the Gel sole component. I noticed chipping in Gel heel by the 16th day of the trial.

Cushion: 6 Good cushion, not great. The shoe is a little stiff and hard at the heel for most runners.

Looks/Style: 8 Stylish and cutting Edge they are.

Speed: 7 You can tear up the track in the Gel-Kinsei 2 and catch up to a cab in the middle of New York City as well, obviously I speak from experience.

Innovation Design: 8 An “Asymmetrical Lacing System” enhancing my Biomorphic Fit while conforming to the bony architecture of my foot…oh goody-goody I love tech savvy shoes! Where do I plug in my Ipod? Not to mention all the Gel and gooey goodness in the heel and forefoot.

Over all Grade and Final Analysis
Grade: 6.38

The Gel-Kinsei 2 is a shoe that will be great…but for now it is a definite pass. Asics has to step it up and drop the odor, weight and heel issues with this model. The model has strengths in innovation and Asics will most likely incorporate these advances in cousin models such as the Gel-Nimbus and Gel-Kayano. By the way, I am holding off on the all too easy smell related jokes I can make in reference to the most unusual odors emitted by the shoes.

The true value of this shoe is: $60.38 U.S. dollars

Up for grabs is my Nautilus squat/bench/pulldown machine combo rack. I don’t really know the name of it, but it’s made by Nautilus. Ever since my wife bought me a power rack, I have not utilized the Nautilus. I’ve tried selling it on craigslist and giving it away to family, but no one comes to pick it up. Come and it get, and it’s free!

It’s a very sturdy built aparatus and is perfect for squating, benching, and doing other multi-joint exercises. It also comes with a built-in lat pulldown which is cool. It holds plates of all sizes, which makes it even sturdier. What comes with the machine? I will give you the rack, the lat pulldown bar and a helping hand to load it on your truck. We can disassemble it, but I don’t have the instructions. I would suggest you come in a pick up truck if possible. I am located in Tampa, FL. If this sounds close to you then it’s perfect!

You will still need a bench, bar, and weights. But this is still a great tool for you to get started. It fits perfectly in any garage.

So, if you want it come and get it. Shoot me an email via the contact form and I will respond right away. Help me get this thing out of my Shack so that I can have more room.

DietFoodDelivery.org is a comprehensive guide informing you of the latest available diet food delivery services as well as an in depth look of each service they have listed. Each service has its own section with detailed information such as sample menus, special offers, testimonials, and a summary. You can compare diet programs and decide which service would be the best fit for you. Each service offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks to eat in between meals. Every diet food delivery service that is listed has a special offer or coupon code that you can use to save. Some are a percentage off your order, free shipping plus a free meal on your first purchase, or 1-2 weeks of free meals. Therefore, be sure to check out their latest special offers listed on the comparison table as well as each section as mentioned earlier.

After you’ve done your research and decided which service you would like to order from; you have the convenience to order via website, phone, or fax on some services. You choose which program you want, for example, low carb, men’s, women’s, senior, vegetarian, etc. as well as the menu and depending on the service you can pick out certain meals you want to have. After order takes place there is a confirmation given by email or phone to give you notice of the delivery date. Food is stored in a special container that preserves the freshness of your food; so when you are not available to pickup the deliver it’ll be there waiting for you when you get back and still fresh. Take note that deliveries are weekly and provides a week worth of food so be sure to have a freezer with enough space to store everything. Depending on where you are located some services can offer a daily delivery.

Be aware that if you decide to use a diet food delivery service you will have to stay focused and be careful. You have to eat ONLY your daily portion of meals as well as snacks. I highly recommend that you do not buy anymore food, no snacks, or ingredients for meals. This would only tempt you even more to eat outside of the daily meals and snacks provided by the service you have chosen.

Another issue to be concerned about is the cost. Now some of them cost on average around $12 depending on the type of program you chose. It can easily become higher than that. When you go buy your next week’s worth of food record how much money you’ve spent. If you do not shop weekly or just a couple of days out of the week then just save the receipts that equal to a week’s worth of food. Then compare the daily cost from your week’s worth of food to the daily cost of the service. Depending on how much you usually spend you could actually be saving some money.

These services are designed to give you less daily carbs based on your ideal weight so you can lose weight. There is a handy weight calculator on their website which calculates your ideal weight based on the information you’ve provided. Once you’ve reached your ideal weight you should either change to another kind of service or start back preparing your own meals. There is a page that helps you with how long you should stay on a program. Therefore continuing to use the service can lead to medical problems from becoming underweight. On a final note. With any diet there is work involved. You have to resist the temptations. This service is just a big helper but you have to still put in the effort to reach your goals.

I am continuously looking for food that I can snack on in between my main meals. I have tried all types of bars, nuts, fruits, etc. Fruits usually hold me over okay, but I never feel full. Luckily I was contacted a few weeks ago by a PR firm that wanted me to try out some new bars. Their pitch was that the bar had been created by a leading weight loss surgeon. That immediately got my attention. I was then sent over some FullBars a week later.

As soon as I opened up the USPS box I was impressed. The packaging for the FullBar was top notch. The package came with reading material about the FullBar, its story, and its founder. FullBar was created by Dr. Michael A. Snyder, MD, FACS. As a leading weight loss surgeon, he knows his share of health and weight loss information.

So the whole point behind FullBar is to feel full, so that you don’t overeat. I like that idea. After being blown away by the sleekness of the bar packaging, it reminded me of Pepperidge Farms cookies packaging, I proceeded to taste one. It was good. Not like those other bars that are tasteless and bitter. That was my first bite. It was a small test. The next day I ate a bar for breakfast, with some water. The taste reminded me of a rice cake, but a whole lot better and less bland. They come in 4 different flavors, chocolate being one of them.

What happened next was pretty surprising. I am usually hungry by about 10 am, even after eating breakfast. But not that day. I was full! I wasn’t even hungry when lunch time came around, but of course I ate to fuel my body. So the FullBar actually did what it said it would do, keep me feel so that I don’t overeat. That was proof enough for me. Plus, each bar only contains about 180 calories (for a full breakdown of the nutrition facts visit the site).

I think FullBar is going to start being distributed around various health stores and retail locations in the U.S. They are currently available for sale on their web site and I recently saw a commercial on TV. I thought it was cool and DVRed the commercial for my wife to see. She was impressed that a company that was advertising on television had representatives that were in contact with me.

Give FullBar’s website a visit and read up. They have a lot of useful health information that anyone interested in weight loss could benefit from.

Editor’s note: This is a guest post from Brandi Koskie, senior editor at DietsInReview.com, a diet review and healthy living resource online, with 400 reviews, daily diet blog and recipe library.

We’ve made it our responsibility at DietsInReview.com to research the hundreds of diet and weight loss plans, pills, books and more. Our constructive, unbiased reviews have taken out the leg work for you, and can aid your decision making process. Three of the more popular reviews at our site are Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet and NutriSystem. They are some of the most successful plans around, as I show in these mini-reviews.

Weight Watchers
This highly acclaimed weight loss plan started nearly half a century ago. The small support-style meetings they had in the beginning, are the same people attend today. They now offer a top-notch online membership site, as well as specialized programs like Weight Watchers for Men. The program supports regular exercise and the flexibility to eat what you like- in moderation. The vast wealth of information provided on site, coupled with that of your counselor, give you the tools for success. It’s most famous for the Points system, which assigns a point value to foods/meals based on the fat, calorie and fiber value. You’re assigned a daily point target, and when you stay within that, you’re likely to meet your weight loss goal and keep it off.

South Beach Diet
The low-carb diet phenomenon dissipated a while back, but the South Beach Diet still stands strong with a loyal following. Cardiologist, Dr. Arthur Agatston, created the plan, giving special attention to keeping the heart in healthy, working condition. This is accomplished by removing saturated fats and reducing intake of carbs. The common result is a silenced sugar addiction and healthy weight loss. In 2008, an updated version called South Beach Diet Supercharged was released- updating the science behind the diet, as well as finally incorporating exercise recommendations. There are some food restrictions on this diet, but other benefits like balancing blood sugar, reduced cholesterol and heart health, make it worthwhile to pass on your former food vices.

NutriSystem
If you can’t keep up with preparing healthy meals to manage your weight loss- then you might try a meal delivery program. NutriSystem was a trailblazer for this concept, and stands out as a leader today. For a monthly fee of about $10/day, they’ll ship pre-packaged meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each is portion controlled, meets the glycemic index and has a balanced ratio of carbs, protein and fat. All of this promotes weight loss and helps you manage blood sugar. The meals do come in shelf-stable packaging, so the downside is that they can have high sodium and preservatives. Preference for the foods lie on both sides of the fence- but the people who do like the meals, also rave about the success they’ve enjoyed.

Then check out LivingXL.com, they offer clothes, accessories, home goods, even outdoor and travel products with the big and tall person in mind. Being a big (fat) and semi tall person, I find this site pretty useful. It’s a sister site to one of my favorite stores to shop at: Big and Tall Causal Male (now known as Casual Male XL).

Whether you’re a man or woman, LivingXL has everything you’re looking for to start your summer comfortable (and fit). They have a wide selection of clothing for you to choose from, including loungewear, pajamas, and even swimwear for those of you looking to make a splash this summer. Personally, extra large towels are hard for me to find, so I’m glad I came across the site. No more tiny towels barely covering one thigh!

LivingXL is pretty much a one-stop shop for us biggies, they not only have clothing and accessories, but personal care and health products like lotions, scales, heating pads, and back scratchers. If that’s not enough, LivingXL has a wide selection of home furnishings and bedroom accessories from specially designed comfort pillows to living room recliner chairs.

Overall, LivingXL is incredible and makes a great place to start off to a comfortable and healthy summer. If you hate shopping online, request a copy of their latest catalog and if you have a friend you think will love the store, why not get them a gift card? Don’t leave without checking their On-Sale section to see if you can scrounge up a few deals.

Their other awesome features includes an amazing online virtual catalog, a sizing and measurement guide and a FAQs section for quick answers to those common questions. Be sure to check their shipping and return policies (they ship to all 50 states, including other U.S. territories).

Happy shopping and here’s to a fit summer!

Trend Spike is a new blog that recently launched which is targeted towards men and only men (unless you ladies want to get to know your men better). It is multi-topic and focuses on the 3 things men love the most: sex, sports, and technology (in no particular order ).

The man behind this testosterone-filled blog is Jason, your average 25 year old Texan. He reveals he is looking to change his career recently and he might become a fireman, but for now he’s searching for online success and says blogging and marketing is his new hobby, even an addiction. And no ladies, he’s married, so you missed out there.

Although Trend Spike is a fairly new blog, it is off to a pretty good start. The front page is filled with great content for you to check out. The site also has a really cool logo which is nice and caught me and made me interested in learning more about the blog. The following are a few posts that we here at FMU thought you, the readers might like.

Undress to Impress

At first I thought, “Wait! Aren’t you supposed to dress to impress?” Apparently not. In this article, Jason explains how to properly undress yourself and your partner in order to ‘impress’ her. Pretty simple, but I guess if you want to gain that extra edge and make your lady happy, you need to know these things so you don’t act too eager or nervous.

14 Reasons Why Being Single On Valentine’s Day Shouldn’t Get You Down

I don’t know about you, but being single on big, bad Valentine’s Day always manages to get me a little unhappy. However, Jason manages to cheer me up a little by offering me a few of the perks of being single. I especially found numbers 7 and 14 useful .

A World Full of Hercules’, DJ Qualls, and Fat Bastards

If you have been living under a rock the past 10 or so years, this title might confuse you. Basically the world is full of muscular, skinny, and Israels . This article however, isn’t there to make fun of you for being a stereotypical overweight or underweight male, it is a great resource for discovering which body type you are and how to properly correct your mistakes in order to change your physique for the better through diet, fitness, etc.

5 Supplements Closer to Becoming the Alpha Male

This article’s title is a little misleading. While it does discuss supplements and how to utilize them for proper muscle growth, it also talks about how to properly eat and what you need (other than pills and powders) in order to get pumped, lose weight, and become overall healthy.

Like I said before, Trend Spike is off to a great start in the blogosphere and FMU will keep a close eye on them. Overall, it’s looking to be a good resource for all males of all body types and we hope you’ll check them out and subscribe to the RSS feed to stay up to date.
