That’s a random title if I ever saw one! I just liked the way it sounded and wanted to post something real quick since it’s been a while. Things have been extremely busy, so I have neglected blogging for a while. I finally have things under control, I think, and will be able to blog again. I have a back log of posts I want to put up in the mean time, to fill the void I’ve left. I’ll be posting a few recaps of the Biggest Loser to keep things plugging along, I’m so seriously behind on things it’s not even funny…

So yes, as the fat turns, I am plugging along. I was out in Cali and almost met up with Mr. Low Body Fat, but just missed him! That would have been really cool. Maybe next time…

Oh, and I gained 5 lbs back in the last 3 weeks, so my theory of I need to blog and weigh-in weekly is proven. 5 Lbs ain’t nothing though, I’ll knock that rust off and be back on track by next week.

Peace!

P.S. Those of you who shot me emails asking for me to return…thanks for the well wishes! You continue to help me along my journey!

My buddy Stefan over at Perfect Blogging is having a contest where 20 people will win $50 each. That’s $1,000 in prizes! It’s his birthday so he’s trying to do it big.

Stefan is throwing a birthday contest and is giving away $50 to 20 different people! All you have to do subscribe to his RSS feed by email. You can find the form on the right sidebar on any page on his blog. The winners will be chosen with a randomizer. The first 20 people selected will be given $50 each. The contest ends on the February 15th so head on over now and enter.

Free Blog ConsultationOn top of giving away a truck load in cash, Stefan is also offering a free blog consultation for his RSS subscribers. He will shoot you some free tips about your design, traffic, readership, monetizing and a few plugins you could use. It’s always good to have an outside opinion, worth a shot.

Perfect Blogging

Stefan has been writing some great content that is definitely worth a read. He’s started a mini guide about improving your blog and blogging. The guide already has three installments and they all have been focusing on different aspects.

If you are looking for new ways to monetize Stefan gives 15 ways to get blogging ideas. As a blogger I am always trying to think about the next topic and article I am going to write. His 15 ways could definitely get your blogging juices flowing.

Perfect Blogging is a blog about blogging. Strange to those of you who aren’t bloggers, isn’t it? However, blogging about blogging is a very popular niche and quite a few people actually make a living doing it. Now, Perfect Blogging is a rather new blog and is only beginning to develop content about various blogging topics, but it has great potential.

The first thing I notice about Perfect Blogging is its simple, yet appealing look. The blog has a nice logo, decent sidebar organization, and easy navigation. The design is a 3-column look which while I’m normally highly against, Perfect Blogging makes it work.

The Final Verdict:

What I like about Perfect Blogging

The simple design and clean logo

Blog Consultation service

Great “About Me” page

A simple, yet useful contact page

What I think Stefan could improve upon:

The content. There isn’t much of it, but could use some polishing on how they are written. I find myself lost while reading which is a major turnoff.

The post date structure. I like to know a specific date when a post is made. It’s nice to know if a post is fresh or not, but on Perfect Blogging, all I see is a month.

SEO (search engine optimization). I noticed Perfect Blogging isn’t optimizing too many keywords on its homepage nor on any of its posts. I suggest using Uberdose’s All-In-One SEO plugin for wordpress

RSS Visibility. I believe Perfect Blogging could see more organic RSS readers if the RSS module was moved to the top of the right sidebar. That way it would be more noticeable to new readers.

Overall, Perfect Blogging has a lot of potential and I see great things from Stefan in the future. If you would like to start a blog or would like tips on how to become a better blogger, visit Perfect Blogging today.

Okay ladies this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to enter the mind of us men.

I am going to bring you into the world and inner most desires of the male brain. It has long been accepted that women are the complicated species. But in actuality men can be seen as so simple that they are in fact looked over.

So ladies are you ready for the secrets?

We really don’t like it when you speak about sports. It’s our thing and you being a sports fanatic can be a major turn off. Imagine if we ranted and raved about mascara and lip gloss? Tom boys have a certain appeal but in the end we want a sexy girl. So keep off our turf on this one.

Men are always looking for an extra inch. Whether it be on our arms, in height, SUV length, bigger homes, and yes even our penis. Size matters to us. If a pill was created by a mad scientist to turn a man into a giant you better believe 99.9999 percent of men would swallow the darn thing and start smashing the nearest DMV building in two seconds flat. If a potion is created that would promise 40 inch biceps we would drink eight cups a day no doubt. Space boots that gave us super human speed and leaping abilities, we are there!

All men still fantasize about the possibilities of x-ray eye wear…we want to know what color intimates you have on without having to ask you. I have to also admit that if we were buxom buddies with a sorcerer it would be a sure bet that we would be using his powers for interesting purposes to say the least. Imagine if that wizard could cast a spell on the hottest girl inducing her to fall in love with us. We would definitely be all over that mystic power, pronto.

And yes we love big breast. Plain and simple, no if ands or butts! Oh yeah we like a nice, proportionate, child bearing rear end as well. But unnatural, surgically enhanced freak breast are not at all appealing. So most importantly be naturally beautiful, that’s more sexy than extra inches on your bust line.

We absolutely love food. Sloppy, greasy, juicy, hearty, meaty, tasty, and mouth popping foods are our sinful pleasures. And we don’t feel guilty about this vice. We might act like we do but we really don’t feel any shame. We are men and this is what men do. So what does this mean for women? Well I feel it affirms the old adage as true, “a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” So learn to satisfy our bellies and you could find yourself an irreplaceable spot in our hearts. Lately men are noticing that the newer breed of females doesn’t come with any man-rearing and tending skills. So emulate the women we already love like mom and grandma. Do our laundry, iron our clothes, feed us well, wipe our cheek and dote over us and you’ve got us for life.

Do something wild with us at least three times a year. Keep us on our toes. Never let us figure you out. Even if you are our wife of fifteen years and have become super soccer mom you should still have a secret side in our eyes. The secret side should be a side that only you and us know about. I’m speaking of a double agent life style that your male significant other benefits from. Women who have mastered this technique have men who stare at them even when she is doing house work because in his mind he is thinking “yeah she’s a housewife but my buddies and her mother don’t know what she does for me when we go to Vegas every Valentines day.” Now that’s hot, house mom who’s secret double life is for her naughty husband only!

At this point I must cease revealing anymore. I have been found out by a free mason man organization that will be kidnapping and torturing me for my treason against the opposite sex. You never read this!

Every guy has a list. We as men have an inherit obsession with lists. We are programmed to respect the priority and organization that the all Holy List provides. Moses introduced all brethren of the world to the original and ultimate list when he returned from Mt. Sinai with the Ten Commandments.

One of the lists that swirls around the head of every man is a personal “before I die” to-do list. And to be honest it may be the most important list of all. This list is the definitive barometer of overall life accomplishments. I have compiled my personal list and am making it available for public consumption. How does my list compare to yours?

Before I Die I Must:

Attain the elusive six-pack abdominals. I had them once in my early pre-teens but lost them as soon as I started packing on size for my first year of high school football. Darn cheesecake, Doritos, and chocolate-chip cookie dough ice cream did me in.

Travel to at least three exotic places. Brazil, Japan, and Iceland are my top choices. Nothing better than being in a new place that makes you feel like an alien. Besides trying new foods is one of my favorite hobbies.

Have a threesome. Yes we have to be honest folks. And this is on the list. Hey a guy’s gotta dream right? Two girls and just one of me. I guess the fixation with this one is that it proves a man to be the top dog, doubly desirable, and maybe sets you free of sexual insecurities. Perhaps this one is a little immature and the pressure is high to perform. But hey I’m more than up for it and I could probably combine this one with my Brazil trip.

Get in the ring. This one is something I really look forward to. Testing my fighting skills in one on one combat. Even if I get knocked out at least the training leading up to the fight will get me in top shape. Secondly, the experience I will gain during my journey to be a gladiator even if for one fight will serve as motivation for all my other life endeavors. The only uncertainty with this one is who will be my opponent. I wonder if I can Google my first grade bully?

Walk across America. Yes I’m serious about this one. I’ll start in the Bronx and finish in San Diego. No better way to find yourself and appreciate the beauty of this great country all at the same time. I look forward to this one more than the others. I know I will wear out a few sneakers for sure.

Write a novel. I have at least one in me, I know it. But to be realistic I’m not so optimistic with this one. What are the chances of me being able to get all my scattered thoughts and stories out onto paper in one fluid, concise work of art? I have to be really lucky to get this one done but it would be nice to accomplish.

Become Rich. Yes having enough zeros in the bank to take care of my loved ones and living comfortably would be a major dream of mine. I have so much I want to do in my life but I continuously trip over the “don’t have enough dough to make it happen” hurdle. How will I make myself a financial success? Well I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Nuff said.

Last but not least, I want to find the woman of my dreams. This goal has remained the same for me for years. But just what defines the girl of my dreams is what has changed. In the past curves and sexy eyes might have been the defining characteristics of my soul mate. But now someone who understands me and dreams just as hard as I do are the traits I most desire. It wouldn’t hurt if she liked to walk and helped me with my list. I wonder if she has a good jab!

To be frank after writing this list down and looking it over I have decided not to make it my life list. Rather it will be my 2008 to-do list. Life is too short to sit on your hands and watch it fly by right before your eyes. Why is “Eye of the Tiger” from Rocky playing in my head?

In today’s world on online advertising, Google has become like McDonalds. Around every corner there’s an unholy blue “G” staring you down. They have controlled and dominated advertising online for years and will continue to do so for a long time.

However, Google has let a lot of us down time after time. We have watched as our honest friends get banned. It is hard to recover from a ban from adsense, but sometimes alternatives are easy to find. Many times you can break off from the rock you’ve been living under while earning with Adsense and discover more profitable companies.

Many times though, you get screwed over and lose money. Israel experienced this recently and thousands of others get banned everyday and lose millions of dollars, landing Google more profit. For many, the easy route is private advertising. Unfortunately in the world of weight loss blogs, there aren’t too many relevant private advertisers looking to invest in you.

Recently Israel tried out Adbrite, a company very popular in the contextual ad world. However for a blog like Israel’s, I advised him to get rid of them ASAP. They show some sexual explicit ads (which can lead reader’s astray) and are not very relevant to your content.

As you can see now, most of the Adbrite ads are gone from FMU, replaced with pretty and simple Yahoo text ads. Unfortunately, Yahoo has a bad reputation for their contextual ads “not being relevant“. I notice that on FMU and other sites using YPN, the ads actually are pretty relevant to the main topic of the site.

However it is too early in YPN’s life to judge them. When the network grows and is eventually opened to the entire world for public use, we’ll have to see if it can truly compete with Adsense.

Israel is still in need of advertisers who can help him fund FMU to keep it running strong. If you’d like to advertise on this site, contact Israel immediately.

This guest post has been made possible by Fat Kid Unleashed dot Com.

When I first began writing about my weight loss journey this past May, I wasn’t expecting to have compiled such an enormous list of blogs that I actually read on a daily basis. That being said, I have decided to make the last post of the year a tribute post. A tribute to all of the magnificent, influential, and supportive people that have assisted me in my continuing journey. This list has been compiled with several factors taken into consideration., most of which are self indulgent. I did not take any third party ranking or statistics into account here. I simple based the list upon my own personal feeling towards each blog: readability, usefulness, uniqueness, etc.

I have been subscribed to these blogs for several months and read them on a weekly, if not daily basis. If I have left a site off of the list that you feel should be on here, just contact me and I will review it for possible inclusion (if I like it that is). This is a list of more personal health blogs, although I do read some corporate/professional health sites that are jam packed with useful information.

Okay, without further ado, here are Fat Man’s Top 22 Weight Loss, Health, and Fitness Blogs of 2007:

If you are an overweight fatty, then you know how the following scenarios feel. Below are 10 places that it sucks being a fatty (thanks for starting this and giving me the inspiration Amy).

1. Any Kind of Dressing Room
Having to try on all those huge size clothes, one after another can get quite annoying. How about when there is no mirror in your stall and you need to use the one outside to see how tight the clothes fit? Embarrassing!

2. Turnstiles
This used to occur a lot back in New York City. The subway train turnstiles were just never wide enough for my big ass. Glad I’m not there anymore.

3. Rollercoasters
Need I say more? As a matter of fact I will. I hate it when I can’t fit into the tiny seats of a ride or when they can’t fit the belt/lock over me. I then get to climb out of the ride and stand there as the other skinny enough riders pass me by.

4. The Public Gym
While having to work out in front of people may not seem like a big deal, it’s a HUGE (no pun intended) deal for fat people. I dread working out in front of other people, especially in shape ones. Having all my fat and loose clothing hanging all over the place is not a very good feeling.

5. The Grocery Store
There are those times when you want to bring home all the junk food, but the people are staring at you thinking, “Damn, control yourself you fat bastard.”

6. Any Kind of Fast Food Place or Restaurant
Same as above except that the other people get to see you eating. Rather, devouring the food that is put in front of you. So you are semi forced into nibbling at your delicious food, all the while feeling as uncomfortable as a fat kid in tights.

7. The Girdle Section of the Lingerie Department
While I can’t speak for myself on this one, I can imagine how horrid it must feel when the large sized girdle doesn’t fit, requiring you to get a larger size. I can bet that the fat girls out there deem this a necessary evil. Just ask fatty girl Amy. Yikes!

8. Your 10 Year High School Reunion
I haven’t had mine yet, but it must suck to be fat at your reunion. Every one would probably talk behind your back and make fun of how fat you got. Sad.

9. At the Pool/Beach
I’m self conscious, even more so due to my fatty status. Taking my shirt off at the beach is something I rarely do. The only reason I share my fatty pics online is because I am not with you in person, so it makes it easier for me to handle.

10. The Doctor’s Office
They weigh you ever time and you’re heavier every time! Then they make you lift your shirt or drop your pants. Ugh. Sucks big time.

Well, that’s the end of the list. I could have come up with more, but it’s Friday and I’m heading to the movies.

As I sit hear I can’t help but notice how tired I have been this week. I feel drained. It’s probably due to my new cardio exercise routine and my lack of sufficient sleep. Yep, that’s probably it. This weekend I’m going to attempt to recharge my battery with some much needed sleep and some extra sun.

That should do it! I feel great when I get sun and sleep, it feels even better when I do them simultaneously. Like at the beach last weekend. Darn, I’m yawning right now, so I think it’s bed time. For now, be safe folks and see ya around.

You can check out some of the blogs I read from around the blogosphere.

Or this crazy video I found, it’s pretty sad actually. I do hope she gets her life together.

I know this college kid that is extremely lazy when it comes to working out. He doesn’t do any kind of exercise and wishes that he was muscular and diesel. The guy can’t even do one push up! Don’t get me wrong, when I first started out I couldn’t do any push ups either. I couldn’t even hold my self in the up position of a push up. That’s how out of shape my body was. That was in 1995. Today I can do about 40 push ups in one set. The most push ups I have ever done in one set is about 72.

This kid, who we will call Platty Boy, once asked me to help him get in shape because he had no workout routine. I told him to adjust little things in his life so that the change can be gradual. I advised he do three sets of push ups, alternating days and to go for walks. I also told him to eat a bit healthier: fruits, more water, less bread, etc. The first week he did it he was excited, but then the excitement died out.

He wasn’t able to do any push ups and was very discouraged with that fact. I told him to start off my holding himself in the up position of a push up until failure, and to do that three to four times per day. That was to be his workout routine. The reasoning behind it was that he would eventually build up enough strength and muscle to start doing push ups. I think he only did it for a couple of days and then gave up.

Platty Boy isn’t extremely overweight, but he was noticeably out of shape. He was more like a skinny fat guy, something that I find really weird. A skinny dude with man boobs. LOL. If you’re fat, be fat. Not half fat. The funny thing about him is that he is really dedicated to his musical band and all that they do, but he can’t dedicate a few minutes a day for his own health.

Go figure. Platty Boy, if you’re reading this, I’m here for ya man!

Tomorrow is my appendix surgery follow up with Doctor AJ. I am so eager to see what he thinks about my recovery. I feel like I am healthy enough to resume exercise and hope that he feels the same way. I can’t wait to just get it over with. Besides not being able to workout, it’s the main thing that’s been on my mind lately.

I am constantly reminded of it by the scars and patches on my stomach. The incision near my belly button is healing really well, I think the stitches are completely closed up. The other two incisions are still hidden under some dressings, so I can’t tell if they are closed up or not. I don’t feel any pain at all, which must be a good sign. Right? I feel a tiny bit of soreness in one of the incisions, but it could also be the dressing that is pulling my skin. Not sure. I will know once the doctor removes both dressings.

My daughter seems to like my wounds, a lot. She has been playing doctor and rubs my belly to make me feel better. It works too! She says, “Daddy, lemme see your booboo. I fix it.”

Who needs Doctor AJ when I got my baby girl?

Fatso Friday is my new weekly (on Friday’s) random lazy post. Each week I will make a lazy fatso post. It’s not lazy in the typical way of being lazy. I will still be writing the same amount, or more, as I usually do and I will also be putting the same effort into what ever I decide to post about. Sometimes I may find something cool around the internet and link to it. But, it’s lazy in the way of I won’t be sitting down and analyzing what to write about with regard to my weight loss journey until I am blue in the face. Instead, it’s more about other random stuff. I decided to call it fatso because I am a fatso. A lazy fatso.

Now on to this weeks Fatso Friday post. The winner this week is the dismissal of Amy from The Biggest Loser. I am so glad she is gone. She was a manipulative, cry baby, bi-polar, bitch. I don’t know if you noticed, but during the weigh-in, she only smiled when “B” had failed to lose a significant amount of weight and was therefore under the yellow line. Like, c’mon. That’s just evil. Then she has the nerve to bad mouth Isabeau and call her a back stabber. Ha, wasn’t Amy the one that turned her back on the red team and their trainer? Yeh, I thought so.

Anyway, I’m glad she is gone because every time I saw her I would get furious. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy for her weight loss success. I just couldn’t stand her annoying attitude. Good riddance. She was damaging my view of the show.

Last night I rented the movie SiCKO by Michael Moore. I had heard about it a few months ago but didn’t think to go see it at the theater. I usually deem movies DVD worthy then wait for their release to rent them via Block Buster Video. Anyway, I knew what it was about and liked his last movie about 911, so I gave it a shot. It was about the health care system and how the health care industry is making tons of profit and not helping patients.

I must say, watching this movie made me want to move out of the country (since there is no universal health care here in the US of A). I can totally relate with the one person that was denied health insurance coverage due to their high BMI. BMI is a load of crap if you didn’t already know. I first came across BMI issues during bootcamp. But that’s another story. This is about being denied insurance because of my fatness. A couple of years ago I was in search of health insurance for my family. I did some research online and found some sites that I could submit my info to for quotes.

A week or so after submitting all my info I received a letter stating that my family could be covered but I couldn’t because I was considered morbidly obese and of “high risk.” I called them back and gave them the example of a body builder having a high BMI and being in shape. They wouldn’t see my side of the story and I was forced to accept their bull shit reason. I would remain denied health coverage because I was too fat.

The amazing thing about it was that I was actually in pretty decent shape a few years ago when this happened. I was about 250 to 260 lbs and in good shape as far as my cardiovascular system was concerned. I just happened to be a bit heavy, like I have always been. At my height of size feet, six foot one on good days, I was considered by most to be in good shape. Not to the health insurance companies though. They judge you based on BMI (body mass index), which is just absurd. It pisses me off just thinking about it and fuels my healthy weight loss.

I know I am not the only overweight person that has been denied health care coverage. Have any of you been through this? Let me know below.

A few weeks ago I decided to go ahead and get the Fat Man Unleashed redesigned. I enlisted the services of Unique Blog Designs. I decided to go with them after seeing the work they have done for other blogs that I visit. Nate was very cool and personable throughout the entire process. We went through several drafts before finalizing what you see now. I never once got that “stop bugging me” feeling from Nate.

There must have been about six or seven drafts, a couple of color combinations, and several tweaks. Nate uses a cool online tool that let’s you view your drafts and comment directly on the design, pinpointing where you want changes done. That made the whole thing easy for me. My main objective was to have the site designed and stick with that theme for a long time. I usually like simple designs, but in this case I wanted an in your face “BAMMMM” effect. I wanted the fat man to be on steroids and that’s why I went balls out on all of the comments/corrections that I left. The good thing about UBD is that they listen to you when you talk.

These are some of the drafts. The last one is Hyder’s mock up.

I must admit that since I wanted this design to be long lasting, that I decided to test out Hyder from Weborithm. I asked him to do a quick mock up for me and after I paid him he sent me something. I was not terribly impressed with the overall design to be honest, but I did love his concept for the header. The “rays” was his idea, so I asked Nate to incorporate that into his design. Nate did it and the design was officially done. Nate’s header design was good, but I just didn’t feel like it was complete. Combining the two designers ideas gave me exactly what I wanted.

After that Steve, one of the guys that handles the coding at UBD, had to code the theme so that it could be installed on my wordpress. Once he did that we found that there were some bugs caused by a plugin that I had installed. He made the fix and the site was ready for unleashing.

If you are interested in a redesign for your site or blog then contact Unique Blog Designs, if you mention the “Fat Man” you may just get hooked up.

So, what do you think of the new look? Like it, dislike it, did it change your life? Let me know.

I often think back to how happy I thought I was during my non-healthy living days. I would always feel happy when I ate food, or did whatever I wanted. It was all a cover up though. Recently an online friend of mine sent me this email, he gave me permission to post it. I think it is very profound, as it struck a cord with me.

“Beefgut wrote:
OH hey, Israel,

Great to chat with you and learn about your goals, well you will want to hear about my buddy George who is kind of not in the same frame of mind as you, man…

George used to be an athlete back in high school (before I knew him) and played at about 165-180 pounds. He’s 5-10 and has a good musculature. But after college, he started getting more lazy and relaxed, and piling on the weight… now he’s 340, and loves his fastfood too much to quit! The guy is pretty lazy and out of shape too, and I don’t think the cigs he smokes are the healthiest, heh … but he’s comfortable. I tell him that he has to watch his cholesterol and so on, but he just laughs. He had it checked a few years ago and it was 290, god only knows what it is now! He says ‘hey I am a jock’ and nothing can happen.

I’m sure hoping he’s right! Well, that’s a bit of an intro to my fat, happy buddy George… he’d definitely take you out to a Denny’s or something and make sure you ate till you popped. A cheat day never hurt, right?”

That got me thinking about how I was always depressed, but on the outside I would appear happy. I was never really meant to be a fat person, as long as I exercised I could eat whatever I wanted. I used to feel like I was on top of the world before I gained all of the fat weight. I would always go to Taco Bell on Tuesday’s for Taco Tuesdays, two for the price of one. I must admit I did enjoy eating lots of food, still do. I love a delicious meal. I think that in my other life I was a food critic. LOL. But seriously, I was really depressed with my weight and eating habits. I was out of control. I am still working on the effects of all of that, but it’s gotten better.

Can any of you relate with Fat Happy George?

I have officially received over 1000 spam comments. Luckily I enabled Askimet early on and it has blocked a majority of them. I guess my blog is not only helping me lose fat, but spam too. Darned spammers boil my blood.

That’s pretty darned sweet if you ask me. I have also broken the 1000 comment mark. That’s a big number to me. While about half of it is my responses to comments, that still leaves me with 500 real human comments made. I like responding to most of the comments made. I figured that if you take the time out of your day to comment on my blog, I should take the time to respond. I made it a personal mission to visit as many blogs that can assist me in losing weight as I can and then commenting, thus becoming a part of the community there.

I started this blog to help hold myself accountable and to have the assistance of an entire online world at my disposal. So far so good. It’s been a couple of months and I have lost over 40 lbs, gained some awesome online friends, and learned a lot of things that I can apply to my weight loss journey.

Thanks to all of you that have visited my blog, helped me, and commented. You guys help fuel me!

A while back John from John Is Fit decided to nominate himself for a 2007 Weblog Award in the Health Issues blogs section. I copied him and nominated myself too. We were trying to see if one of our blogs would be chosen as a finalist amongst all of the commercially huge doctor, health blogs that are nominated.

John’s blog was chosen as a finalist in the Health Issues blogs category, but I wasn’t. Oh well. At least one of ours was chosen. What’s odd is that I received the most nominations in that category, then John received the second most. I was sure we would both make the Health Issues finals. I was added to the Best of the Rest category though. It’s like the bottom of the barrel. LOL. I guess you can say we both made it. I wish John luck and hope he wins. So go vote for him, and vote for me too. John should be making a post about it soon. Here’s his voting page.

You can vote for my blog here: Vote for Fat Man Unleashed

Any one with any weight loss tips and blogs that can help me shed some extra weight and adjust to my new lifestyle are encouraged to share them. I am looking for tips and tricks that will assist me in losing some extra fat, gain more muscle, curb my appetite, and so on. Anything, so long as it’s SAFE. I don’t want to put myself in harms way, if you know what I mean. Over the next few weeks I will try out these tips and will report back on what worked and what didn’t work for me.

For now, I have a list of health blogs that I frequent and they occasionally share some weight loss tips and insight that I employ. Sometimes the tips or tricks aren’t spelled out in plain English, but they are there nonetheless. There are times when I just take what I learn from others and make something up that suits me.

I have been meaning to do so for a while now. When I first started the blog I wasn’t happy with the overall look of it, but I didn’t have the know how to redo it myself. That lead me into making the brain/muscle logo and adding it to the header.

I am so eager to unleash the new design. It’s clean, sleek, and has a BAMMMM effect. I like it and hope it doesn’t turn any one off. I don’t think it will, but you never know. I am a visual person and most of the new elements are visual in nature.

I guess when I finally unveil it I will get feedback on it. I can’t wait.

Yes, that’s right. I have man boobs. I may not be proud of them, but I have enough guts to show them off to the world. The only reason I am displaying my man boobs is because I want to feel pressured into losing them. I have had my man boobs, or moobs, for a few years now and I hate them so bad. I used to have boy boobs when I was kid too. Having to find ways to cover them up was one of the worst things in the world.

Then I started working out and they went down. They actually turned into muscle and I was proudly showing off my chest. That was until I let myself go again. Now I am here today with my man boobs, angry as hell for letting myself get to this point. There are certain shirts that I wear that cover them up, but most don’t. I have never entertained the idea of a Bro, a man bra, or of plastic surgery so that’s out of the picture. My only hope is to get in shape and lose these man boobs the old fashioned way.

Please don’t ignore my man boobs. I need the awkwardness and shame that they make me feel. That is the only way I can lose them. I found a site that had a bunch of guys submitting their man boob pictures, but I won’t link to it since it’s really disturbing. These guys embrace their man boobs and get off on it. I think some of them actually have implants. It’s kinda freaky and weird. I’ll give you a hint: It’s a UK domain name for man boobs. Back to the subject at hand: my chest. Mine aren’t as bad a those guys on that site. I can do push ups and bench presses but it feels like they will never go down this time around. I think doing cardio will help reduce them, but not fast enough!!!!!

Is it too late for me? I hope not. I don’t know what I would do if I had to keep my man boobs after I lost the weight. One thing I can’t stand is when I see a skinny guy with man boobs. Like what the heck dude, just do some damn push ups. It’s the most annoying thing in the world. Remember Chandler on Friends? Ugh. If you’re gonna have man boobs at least be fat.

I also want to get rid of my man boobs because of the possibility of developing male breast cancer. Many people think that it’s not as prevalent as it really is. It exists and afflicts many men each year. Getting rid of my man boobs can help me lower my risk of breast cancer and help get my self esteem up. Two birds with one stone. What more can you ask for?

It’s been a few weeks since I started this whole lifestyle change and one thing I noticed was that my dirty laundry has grown tremendously. It’s as if the more I workout, the more dirty clothes I have. It’s nothing major, just something I started noticing as I was doing laundry the other day. More sweat equals more dirty clothes. Pretty simple when you think of it, but most of the time we don’t think of these little things.

Just think. Let’s say you workout twice a day: once in the morning and once at night when you get home. That’s two shirts, two pants/shorts, four socks, and two underwear (add in bras or sports bras if your a woman) that are dirty and that you need to account for in a day. Let’s then say that you do this five times a week. That’s all that times five. So if you do laundry once week, like I do, then that’s about load of clothes just from your working out per week. I don’t know about you but I don’t dirty that much clothes normally, so it kinda effects my bottom line in a way. Having to spend more water, detergent, conditioner, and electricity isn’t something I like to do.

There are a few ways to lessen the heaping mound of dirty laundry that you build up but it sometimes isn’t worth it. For example, you can wear the same shorts and shirt for a couple of days, which is gross. You can also wear the same socks and underwear, but at the risk of a potential fungal bacteria.

I guess when you think about it, it really isn’t all that serious of a matter. I was just bored and having do some laundry so I decided to write about it. Oh well, back to washing my sweaty gym clothes. They don’t seem that nasty when you’re wearing them. Yuck.

Well, they aren’t really little, but they are friends. As Fat Man Unleashed continues to grow I wanted to be able to offer different perspectives and views on weight loss and exercise matters. That being said, I invited some folks to post on FMU from time to time.

Both of these guys have years of weight lifting and exercising experience under their belts.

The first is IronGuru. He runs a bodybuilding forum over at IronMass.com. An experienced bodybuilder with over 4 years of bodybuilding, diet, fat loss, nutrition, and supplement experience, he will be debunking myths and giving the real story on miracle supplements and workouts.

The second is Chris, he has his own informative fitness blog at LifeFitnessHealth.com. He is 24 years old and resides in Calgary, Alberta. “I’ve been into this whole body building stuff since I was 19. I used to be overweight, but dropped the weight. I got really into it because I found the process so calculated and premeditated. It also taught me to be more goal oriented, which helped both in the gym and in my daily life.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.

From time to time there may be more guest bloggers appearing as I try to make this blog more beneficial for myself and my readers. I learn from what these guys have to say too. I also learn and enjoy the many blogs I subscribe to and read daily. If you are interested in guest blogging on FMU, or would like me to guest post on your blog, shoot me a contact here.

Well, it’s Sunday and I have some football to watch. Go Giants!

I have had a pair of black jeans size 40 for about 3 years. They are made by Pepe Jeans London. I love that brand. Never worn, ever. I also have a pair of shorts my wife bought me when I was in shape but never wore them either. Those are Pepe too.

This is the year I put them on, that’s one of my goals. I tried putting them on but it was a very tight fit. I had to forcefully pull them up to my waist, and they barely got there. I couldn’t button them. I couldn’t even walk in them. I had to shuffle my feet in order to get the camera in the living room so I could take the picture below. When it was time to take them off I had to peel them off slowly. It was bad. REAL BAD. The fact that I could even pull them up past my knees is amazing. Last time I tried a year ago I wasn’t successful.

I got the idea for this post from Biggest Loser Tuesday night when the trainers presented the contestants with the goal shirts. I had goal shirts and pants before, but none with writing on them. I have always wanted to buy or fit into a certain pair of cloths and these are it. I can’t believe it’s been 3 years. I also have a bunch of shirts I haven’t worn in eons. I have a closet full of clothes that I don’t wear. Sadly I haven’t done anything about it until now. My goal jeans may seem big, but at size 40 they are a perfect fit. I have big thighs and I have always worn size 40 or 42 in order to have a baggy fit around my thighs. I attribute the trait to my mother. Thanks mom.

I was on someone else’s blog the other day and she was talking about letting go of her skinny jeans because she would never be able to wear them again. I don’t agree with that. I say get back in shape and put those jeans on. Don’t concede to the fat. I won’t!

I woke up today at about 2 PM. That means that I slept for about 14 hours. Damn. That’s a lot of sleep. I only do it on Saturdays. I think it’s because I am so drained from the week so my body tries to make up for it on the weekend. It always shocks me when I wake up so late. I don’t usually plan it so it sorta pisses me off to have lost most of the day.

I have read in some places that too little sleep is bad and too much sleep is bad as well. What the heck? Can those darn scientists make their minds up?! Here is one of the articles I read on the sleep issue, this one is from Medical News Today. I recall a few years ago reading a news paper article about how the body needs to recharge after not getting sufficient rest. It also mentioned something about needing to get REM (Rapid Eye Movement) deep sleep. If not the body stays restless. I know I got my sleep in today.

It’s already 6 PM and I have barely done anything. I haven’t even worked out, but I will as soon as I finish this post. This means I am probably going to be awake all night too. Good thing I rented those Blockbuster movies. Speaking of which, I need to return those before they forcefully make me “buy” them.

OMG, I haven’t even turned on Sportscenter or any of the college football games. I did catch some of last nights South Florida vs. West Virginia game. USF wins again! I am officially a disgrace to all sports fans out there. I sincerely apologize for my lack of commitment.

Anyway, I’m going to keep this short, it’s Saturday and I want to spend some time with the family. Enjoy your Saturday folks.
