Fast Food Is My Kryptonite

Kryptonite Fast Food Pizza made me weak and sickA few days ago I wrote about how I gave in to the temptation of eating fast food. In this case it was Domino’s Pizza. A few minutes after I ate it I began feeling weak and light headed. It was as if I was weakened by something in the food. And you know what? I was. All of the processed crap and fat in fast foods makes my body weak. It’s as simple as that.

That’s how I know that fast food is my kryptonite. I was so severely weakened that I had to take a nap. I didn’t want to, but I had to. I could barely keep my eyes open. The next day I could barely get out of bed. My stomach was bloated all day and I couldn’t use the bathroom due to constipation. It had been so long since I had eaten fast food that my body was shocked from having consumed it.

Some how I managed to lift weights and get in a great run, but all the while I was feeling like I had two watermelons in my stomach. Yes. It was that bad. I felt so bloated that I wasn’t even hungry. I felt like if I ate anything else I would blow up. Keep in mind, that this was the next day and I still could barely stomach anything. I had to force myself into eating some fruit and vegetables. I needs me my nutrition!

So, the clock struck 11 PM and I was still feeling bloated and constipated. A whole 30 hours after originally eating fast food pizza. I couldn’t take it anymore and downed four vegetable laxative pills that I keep around in case of emergency. It’s supposed to take effect within a few hours, but that wasn’t the case. I went to bed and the following day I finally got to rid myself of the damned fast food kryptonite.

I know there’s still some remnants of it inside of me, but I think over the next few days I will be able to clean myself out. I plan on eating fruits, veggies and oats as my primary fuel. That should help me stabilize my equilibrium.

Oh, and no more fast food for a long while. No Wendy’s, no McDonalds, no Burger King, no Sonic, no Pizza Hut, no Checkers, no Taco Bell, no Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), and definitely no Domino’s Pizza!

Fast food, I’m officially on strike!

I haven’t had ‘fast food’ since February… until a couple weeks ago. My son had a football game in another small town. A town where the only restaurant open after 8pm was Mickey D’s. I was in a panic. I was scared to even go into the place. But I had to.
After about 10 minutes of staring at the menu and checking everything against my WeightWatchers guide, I finally ordered a grilled chicken sandwich without mayo and a diet coke. Only 5 points!

    I survived!

But man, I feel for you. Domino’s made me sick when I wasn’t eating so clean. So I know what you’re talking about.

I like chicken sandwiches and usually opt for those when I used to eat at fast foods. I am not too familiar with Weight Watchers plans, but I hear a lot about the points system.

everything starts with an idea like ‘eating clean’. its the easist way to control your weight and body is the point at which stuff enters..via the mouth and where you make those decisions…in the shop..what can i say…keep buying carrots instead of fries…its not easy…i bake a lot of raisin bread (no sugar etc) instead of cookies and cakes…there’s a lot of raisin and fruit bread recipes, also malt loaf..great with tea and coffee…and then those cursed carrots…you just have to cram them in and then the hungerpang subsides and with it the desire for trashfood…i’ve found if you just feed the pang, the desire vanishes. and you might crave or pang for fries or whatever but if you bite the bullet and shove in two carrots then…well…you are a bit full…the moment has passed and on you go….its hard but eating ‘clean’ really has its rewards.

well with eating food with a lot of fat, the fat volume in your blood increases. So you get less blood plasma in x amount of blood as now you have fat mixed with the blood.

So instead of having red blood cells and your blood plasma, you now have a lower amount of them per litre as the damn fat also has to be in the picture.

It scary, what fat food does with you. If you eat a pizza take a blood sample, put it into a centrifuge machine, you can see the fat layer from the pizza in the blood, as now all the components are segmented.

“but all the while I was feeling like I had two watermelons in my stomach”

That seems a bit of a stretch, sure it wasn’t more like 1 and a 1/2 watermelons?

I know what you mean — fast food is just awful. When I think back to how much of it I used to eat before my healthy eating plan I shudder.

I found a great pizza that is actually very nice and easy to order – comes 6 to a box frozen and ready to be popped in the oven (don’t microwave) — Fit and Free Pizza (no fat, only 232 calories) – very tasty, and a gluten free crust that is very nice.

When I need a “fast” food option for dinner because of time or the family wants to eat out – I chose Panera’s salmon salad – it’s great. They also have a nice low fat chicken noodle soup that my daughter loves. (I don’t eat noodles now but when I get to maintenance phase I will include this option). Subway has some decent subs and salads – I always use my own lower in calorie dressings though. Appleby’s has some good weight watcher menu items too – you can call ahead and pick up.

For my cheat meal today I ate at mc donalds this afternoon, it was more of a abused meal than a cheat meal! Now I’m not hungry anymore I think I’ll have a protein shake before sleeping, tomorrow I start again 5 days of low carbs and training.

  7. My take on fast food is this: take the ‘s’ out of fast and you’re left with fat! I keep this in mind every time I drive by one of those restaurants.

  8. I try to stay away from fast food most of the time but sometimes i treat myself after i succeed with certain goals.

  9. Lady Rose,

Where did you find Fit and Free Pizza? That sounds great! I’d love to find oven-ready gluten free like that. It would make life so much more convenient.

You should take more fruits for fiber. Take care.

These foods do tend to be quite moorish. If your don’t eat regulary and then gorge on this food it can leave you feeling tired and bloated. Weightlifting on this food is OK depending on what you dead lift and how many calories you burn. The carlories are good but the fats are bad. I like to get plenty of nuts when I’m weight lifting.

Not great for bodybuilding and definfately not good for weight loss.
