Losing Comment Spam, Gaining Comments

I have officially received over 1000 spam comments. Luckily I enabled Askimet early on and it has blocked a majority of them. I guess my blog is not only helping me lose fat, but spam too. Darned spammers boil my blood.

That’s pretty darned sweet if you ask me. I have also broken the 1000 comment mark. That’s a big number to me. While about half of it is my responses to comments, that still leaves me with 500 real human comments made. I like responding to most of the comments made. I figured that if you take the time out of your day to comment on my blog, I should take the time to respond. I made it a personal mission to visit as many blogs that can assist me in losing weight as I can and then commenting, thus becoming a part of the community there.

It’s been a couple of months and I have lost over 40 lbs, gained some awesome online friends, and learned a lot of things that I can apply to my weight loss journey.

Thanks to all of you that have visited my blog, helped me, and commented. You guys help fuel me!

  5. Congratulation. I believe every bloggers should take time and visit ‘neighbors’ and socialize. Akismet is a nifty plug in for wordpress if only I can have it in real life to catch bad foods and drinks that I occasionally have :D.

That’s a lot of spam! Before long you’ll catch up to ProBlogger (I saw that he hit the 1,000,000 mark lol).

I always got a little spam but lately the amount’s been increasing significantly. So I get around to updating my wordpress finally yesterday and I come to realize I didn’t even have Askimet enabled for some reason. Ugh, but alls well now, haven’t heard a peep yet today.

I’ve been lurking, but very seldom comment. You really are doing great.

I love askiment! Thing that I wish I could add on would be the ability to send messages to the spam folder if they contain the word “buy”. I get so much spam that says “buy phen phen” or whatever. I don’t really want to switch to approving every comment so I just have to check in several times a day to delete the spam that gets through. Over all though, askiment rules.

Oops, spelled askimet wrong 🙁 Sorry.
