The Biggest Loser Couples Season 7, Episode 1 Recap
The Biggest Loser is getting even bigger and accomplishing new feats. This season we meet oldest man (62 years old), the youngest man (18 years old), the biggest woman (379 pounds), and the biggest contestant ever (454 pounds). As you can see there is lots of weight to be lost.
Within the first 10 minutes of the show, the oldest contestant Jerry collapses during his work out. After he was rushed to the hospital they find that his blood pressure dropped which made him pass out. He didn’t let that stop him and continued on with the show.
The first challenge was somewhat of an obstacle course with the black team winning by a foot making them safe for elimination.
The next part is what confuses me and didn’t make sense with the ‘couples’ theme. There wasn’t an ‘elimination’ but 9 people were sent home. It was determined by the percentage of weight loss by the team. One team would be safe, while the rest of the teams have to choose one member who will be going home.
After all the teams weigh-in at a combined 382 pounds lighter, Ron and Mike are safe from elimination. Ron, losing 32 pounds, sets the record for the most weight lost in a single week on the Biggest Loser.
Each team then chose who would be going home that night. The only way back in for these contestants is to have their ‘couple’ stay in for 30 days.
Do you like this twist? I would have preferred it be couples the whole way through.
I think the biggest loser is at the top of it’s game. They just keep pumping out the episodes and I’m glued to the TV. I don’t like the twist this season though. How pissed how you be if you were sent home with the hope of coming back and your partner gets voted off in less than 30 days? Terrible, but hey that’s TV.
It took me almost 6 months to lose what Jerry did in a week. I need Jillian to kick my butt π
P.S I hate the product placement segments, they drive me crazy.
Steve
Yeah, the product placements have started getting way more prevalent. I used to like when it was just a sponsor that sponsored an event. I think they need to branch out into Biggest Loser High School, or BL College, etc, or BL Sports. Or even better, and remember you read it here first….
THE BIGGEST GAINER… boom.
Wonder who will win this season. I can’t wait to find out!
I would love to see the Heaviest guy win.
thanks for the recap.
Yeah I don’t see why they would make it “couples” theme, only to send 9 of the couples home.
I guess they are running out of ideas and wanted to switch things up with a “twist.”
I better not miss this one. I still remember the fun episodes from the last season. lols
Thats amazing….Being fat doesn’t mean they are not fit. Hope the strong person wins!
People should have a winner context for those undergoing different programs.
True, but these folks are visibly not fit. lol.
Dude, what happened to your blog? I couldn’t access it for awhile~!
I was having server issues. But it appears to be under control for now. Thanks for the concern.
It is funny that you mention THE BIGGEST GAINER. I am skinny man, and the first time I saw the biggest loser, I was like they need to come with the opposite. Your blog is such an inspiration I am lunching my own, which will be the opposite of yours off couse.
I cant wait to see what you do with the site Marlon…
Hiya Israel,
Did you end up trying the Crossfit class at Tampa South? I’ve been Crossfitting for about 9 months now and have had great success (I’ve lost about 30 pounds of fat and kept it off, I’m stronger and have added muscle mass). I have found that the high intensity group training sessions have kept me very motivated.
From what I have heard and read, not all Crossfit gyms are made equal. A good Crossfit coach is a stickler for good form and reliable. It is really sad that some Crossfit outfits aren’t reliable, but that can be said about service provider.
I also mostly follow the Crossfit version of the Zone diet which while it may go against the grain of popular diet philosophies it certainly works, in my experience.
Great blog. All the best with your quest!

Hi James,
I have not, but am in contact with 2 Crossfits in the area that are just waiting on me. I have decided to push my Crossfit training back to about March. Congrats on the success!
One of the challenges the contestants face (Biggest Looser) is sustaining their weight loss after the Program. They do acheieve impressive results during their time on the show but in most cases not sustainable going forward. I recently started on a dieting system “Beyond Calories” – I have achieved very impressive gains in such a short time however yet to see if it is sustainable in the long term.
I am super excited about this season because the yellow team is from our little rural town!
You have to admit — the majority of the BL contestants *have* kept their weight down way below what they started at. I think the one exception is the Ryan guy from season 1 π
Yes, Ryan was a disgrace…admitting to having starved himself.
i used tom watch biggest loser but when i migrate to cebu i don’t watch it anymore… so any one has the idea won?? kindly pls. post it pls.
I love watching the Biggest Loser, I have a lot of admiration for the people that go on that programme and try to improve themselves. I have heard however that a range of products called herbalife can really help with weight loss.
