Twinkies on a Diet? Say It Ain’t So!

Twinkie Bites, Now Only 100 Calories

It’s true. Hostess will slim down the Twinkie and follow suit in the newest low-calorie version trend sweeping the snack food industry. Hostess has unveiled a repackaged 100-calorie version of the iconic Twinkie, called Twinkie Bites. How good will it taste? Probably just as deliciously fattening as the original, but I don’t want to find out! I recall eating these up as a kid and loving every artery clogging bite.

See them for yourself on Hostess’s site: Twinkie Bites

From the Hostess site:

“In each pack of Twinkie Bites you’ll find three deliciously moist mini sponge cakes with all the rich creamy filling and great Twinkie taste you’ve loved since you were a kid, now with just 100 calories per pack.

Try new Strawberry Cupcakes and satisfy your cravings with three indulgent strawberry mini cakes, all with cream cheese icing, creamy filling and only 100 calories per pack.

So, I suppose it will taste like the original.

I don’t know if I could resist the temptation to buy just one pack.

GROSS! We have always joked around how after a nuclear bomb, the only things left will be roaches and Twinkies.

Have you ever noticed how they NEVER go bad? (shudder)

  3. I used to like Twinkies as a kid. However, when you start to eat healthier, you find you crave this kind of thing less and less. Twinkies are about as unnatural a food product as you can get. Still, if you feel like cheating a bit, having ONE of these things once in awhile won’t hurt.

The problem with all of these 100 cal packs is this… people think that they’ll be able to eat just one pack, but they end up eating even more than if they had just bought a regular sized Twinkie. And you know what that means… more and more waste production from the extra packaging.

I hope these 100 cal Twinkies go down in flames! Hahhaa

    Thanks for the post

    All the Best,

    Andrew R

  7. twinkies have no food value. THere are no nutrients in it and have no place in your body, let alone on a calorie restriction program.

    Good Lord.

    TWINKIES ARE NOT A FOOD.

there, my job is done, I can move on

    LOL @ Rob

I stopped liking Twinkies as an adult. To me they taste like chemicals.

Those pink marshmallow/cocunut/chocholate cake things are another story. I think they call them Snowballs. When I quit smoking I ate 4 a day. The regular size. And diet pepsi. Caffeine free of course.

I won’t eat anything in a 100 calorie package. It’s just stupid. If I’m gonna eat crap then I wanna eat the whole thing -not just a teaser bite size thing. jeez. 😉

I’m the same way, I used to eat twinkies when I was younger, but then kind of outgrew them. Like Rob said, they are useless calories, and basically have no nutritional value. However, when I was a kid that didn’t stop me from eating because I thought they were awesome.

  10. I hate to admit it, but I am adicted to Twizzlers! I crave them constantly! So much for having sophisticated taste!

  11. Acai BerryNo Gravatar says:

I’ve never liked twinkies anyway. But I definitely wouldn’t be eating them on my diet.

  12. Losin FatNo Gravatar says:

They aren’t on my diet, but deep-fried twinkies are pretty darn good. But alas, it is true – no nutritional benefit.

  13. Twinkies were hard to resist when I was younger. Good to know that they can be outgrew.

This is such great news! Twinkies are my comfort food whenever I am stressed out and depressed!

  18. AngieNo Gravatar says:

I love Twinkies. But the problem with the 100 calorie packs is that studies show that ppl tend to eat more of them, because in their mind they are low calorie. Yes it’s only 100 calories, but if you eat 5 packs of them, you might as well have had a meal.

  19. I’m excited about this and blogged about it in my tongue in cheek post entitled,” Now Twinkies are Healthy!” at http://leananmean.com/http:/leananmean.com/now-twinkies-are-healthy/

    I’ll guess C, B, A.

Man, I haven’t had a twinkie in a MINUTE!!! I’m going to the store to pick some up!! Thanks for reminding me!! Wahahaha! Cheers!

  21. Yeah chocodiles have always been a pain to find… especially if u live in Cali. Ive seen them in convenient stores while driving through Idaho and Utah, but the only place I can consistently find them is at a hostess factory store, usually where they sell twinkies and hohos and other things at a discount rate.

    great post thanks

Dieting and Twinkies don’t go together. Eating some Twinkies once in a while won’t probably kill you, but i don’t personally see why would anyone eat such garbage.
