When I made this Vegetarian Lasagna, I made a large pan of regular lasagna for the rest of my meat-loving family. Safe to say, my pan is gone and there is still a whole pan of meat, cheese and sauce left over! Ingredients: 1 box of lasagna noodles 1 bag of fresh spinach (you can […]

This is one of the few meals where my son actually asks for more vegetables! Truthfully, I think he likes it because he can eat his vegetables with his fingers without me scolding him! =) Mix it up to your taste and enjoy! Ingredients: 3lbs of Chicken (drumsticks or wings work great!) Fresh asparagus 2 […]
This easy to make recipe is sure to be a hit with the family! Kids love it and the smell is sure to get everyone out of bed in the morning! Mix it up, make it your own and don’t be afraid to add a little spice to it (jalapenos work great!) Ingredients: 3 cups […]
In my years of dieting I have tried many types of approaches. In the beginning, I was not very knowledgeable in the area of health, so I just thought to starve myself. After taking time to read magazines, books, watch videos, and just talk to people about weight loss I learned I was making numerous […]
We have all been faced with the temptation. It’s Friday at the office, and the “Morale Committee” has so kindly brought in doughnuts, coffee cake and pastries. How thoughtful of them to temp us with Trans fat, sugar and deep-fried deliciousness.
If I had known beforehand that Edy’s Tart Honey Yogurt Blend would cause such a ruckus….well, I would have bought it anyway. My Taste Test Crew got bent out of shape and took sides as opinions flared in the heated discussion over whether this frozen yogurt is good or gross. Tart Honey is a new, […]
Two things in my life remain constant. I pack lunch, and it’s a Lean Cuisine. I go to Subway, and it’s a Turkey & Swiss on wheat. But today is different. I’m living on the edge and I’m driving 100 miles per hour! So what if I already packed lunch. I’m headed to Subway for […]
Back in junior high school I was a typical fat kid. Uncomfortable in my own skin, I took the joke a science teacher once told and tried eating paper to lose weight. Now this isn’t a case of pica or some other eating disorder, I only tried it for a few days before I decided […]
Chicken, Chicken, Chicken!!!! I don’t know about you, but I get sick of eating chicken the same way over and over. If you are trying to lose weight it’s either grilled or baked. And if you look up recipes for chicken that are healthy they are either bland with no flavor or dry as a […]
I am a strong proponent of only drinking water. Juice is a no-no and soda is an absolute sin. Want to lose weight and be healthy? Then don’t consume any liquid besides water, Period, no if’s and or buts. Stop being a pansy and accept the fact that water is Nature’s most perfect beverage. After water whole fruits are an excellent source of liquid nourishment. But if you simply can not resist and must consume beverages other than water I have a few alternatives I can suggest. Maybe this can be a good way to ween off the naughty drinks such as soda, carbohydrate loaded, sugar filled, non-nourishing juices or heaven forbid you are addicted to those demonic energy drinks! Take a walk on the healthy side with me as your guide.
Ok, so the beauty of cooking is that you can add and subtract whatever you want to a recipe. The imagination is a terrible thing to waste so if you think it will taste good or pair great with a certain flavor, then go for it! Cooking is all about experimenting and what doesn’t work […]
So now that I have confronted the fact that I am a beverage fanatic and that my urge to constantly drink is a contributing factor to my over extended gut…what am I gonna do about it? Well drink more beverages of course..duh! I know that many others have the same addiction I have and that transitioning into healthier alternatives can be very difficult.
I love chocolate cake. Always have and always will. It’s the devils food! Full of sugar. But it tastes so damn good with a tall glass of milk. Mmmm…I can taste it now. Chocolate cake can be a weight loss diet disaster food if you don’t control yourself. Some say to stay away from it […]
It’s Sunday people! Eat your carrots! What do Sunday and carrots have in common? A fat man eating them on a Sunday of course. Duh! Okay, so I’m feeling a little silly. Check the video out. I really, really, really enjoyed eating that baby carrot. It was juicy. They all were. Carrots make a great […]

It’s true. Hostess will slim down the Twinkie and follow suit in the newest low-calorie version trend sweeping the snack food industry. Hostess has unveiled a repackaged 100-calorie version of the iconic Twinkie, called Twinkie Bites. How good will it taste? Probably just as deliciously fattening as the original, but I don’t want to find out! I recall eating these up as a kid and loving every artery clogging bite.
Fact: Vitamin A is good for your eyesight. It contains retinoid, a group of compounds that has been proven to have a positive effect on vision, bone growth, and cell division amongst other things. Found in many vegetables and dairy products, Vitamin A is also referred to as anti-infective, because it strengthens the body’s immune […]
As you may already know, it’s Thanksgiving today in the USA. For some it’s a time to share thanks with your friends and family, for some it’s a time to enjoy each others company, but for some like me, it’s a time to eat and then eat some more. I love eating. That is why […]
“Snacking” is a term which many people love to hate. It’s normally used to describe the hunger binges that many people (including the strictest of dieters) indulge in, and is something that has been seriously misinterpreted over the years. Heavily influenced by the media and reinforced by pushy diet groups, snacking has quickly become a […]
I recently completed a day 30 cleanse. Someone I know recommended it with high praise so I decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised with the results, losing 15 lbs and several inches around my waist in the 30 days. While I had success with I really know that I would be […]
Not everyone is lucky enough to have the genetics of someone like IFBB pro Jay Cutler, who piled on an astounding 40 pounds of muscle in his first two years of training. Truth is, many of the rest of us are hardgainers — gym regulars who, although fairly grounded in our approach to training and […]
What I would recommend for a meal schedule is something like this, for a ‘normal’ day – adjust the times as I go … since I’m just writing to the average person. This is more in tune with my personal goals at the moment but you can adjust to fit your life. Or not use […]
It’s a national holiday, you’re eating healthy, and working out. What do you do when Independence Day here in the United States is often celebrated by going to the beach/state park, barbecuing up some delicious food, and watching fireworks at night? You have two options. You can either take today as a splurge/cheat day or […]
But what about the many meals a day?! Well, this is another thing most people forget. Your body digests what it takes, in about 2 ½ hours. Most people eat 3 large meals a day and a few snacks, well, this will add up to around ~3,000 calories to the average person. The body, however, […]

Last week I posted a fitness interview with Rob Cooper. He is the guy that lost 300 lbs the natural way. This week we will focus on his diet and nutrition. We can stand to learn something from his weight loss journey. Health wise, I think continual learning is crucial and Rob’s insights provide that. […]
I have decided to test my inner strength by undergoing a grueling fasting diet. I won’t be eating anything and will only be drinking water and possibly green tea. I will however take a multi vitamin each morning. This isn’t something I am used to so it should prove to be a challenge. Why am […]
Weight Loss Experts continuously debate over which diets are best: “low carb” or “low fat”. I am not sure which side is currently winning and frankly I don’t care. In my opinion, the macronutrients that are most important to weight loss are proteins. Benefits of Protein Protein benefits weight loss in many ways: Building muscle […]
Editor’s note: This is a guest post from Jason Bacchetta of Trend Spike, a Men’s Blog and Online Magazine. When Israel mentioned in his vlog that he believed people should replace food, rather than just cut it out of their diet altogether, I decided to give my opinion on that idea as well. I recently […]
Everywhere I go I see Fiji bottled water. What’s so great about it besides it being more expensive than other bottled water? I must admit that at first this was going to be a rant about how I can’t stand bottled water companies, but after reading through the beautifully designed Fiji Water web site and […]
Although the grey days of late-winter seem to be endless, Spring is approaching very fast. In no time we will switch from knitted sweaters and stuffed jackets to easy-breezy skirts and tight shorts. So what is your reaction when you realize that your favorite pairs of cotton pants don’t fit you any more? Of course […]
That’s right. You heard me say it: eating to lose weight. I’ll say it one more time to let it sink in: eating to lose weight. Now why in the world would someone eat to lose weight? Well, here’s the secret: It’s not the amount of food really, but the number of times. Let’s look […]
