Weekly Weigh-In: Another 3.8 lbs Lost, 70.4 lbs Total

I. Am. On. Fire. I’ve lost another 3.8 lbs this week. That brings my total weight lost to 70.4 lbs. SEVENTY!!!! That’s crazy. I now weigh 277.6 lbs. I have 30 more pounds to lose to reach my next major goal of 248 lbs. At that point I will see where I am at and what my new goals will be. I will also have reached the 100 lb weight loss goal at that point.

Coming Out of the Dieting Closet

Coming Out of the Dieting Closet

By far, my least favorite of all the filthy, scandalous four-letter words in the English language is “DIET”. No other word has the ability to make my toes curl and skin crawl like the dreaded “D” word. Tell me that the idea of having to go on a “diet“, or the memory of having [...]

Weekly Weigh-In: 3.4 lbs Lost

Weekly Weigh-In: 3.4 lbs Lost

Week two of being under 300 lbs. Another week and another few pounds lost. This time I lost 3.4 lbs, much less than the 10+ lbs from last week, but it’s right around where I want to be on a weekly basis. I think at this point I can consistently lose 2 to 3 lbs a week with no sweat. Well, I need to sweat but you know what I mean.

Small weekly loses are better for me in the long run than huge loses. My total lost so far is at 59.6 lbs. That’s 60 lbs in my book. 60 mutha freaking pounds I lost. Back in the day losing 60 lbs was a major thing for me, or any I knew for that matter. But here I am about halfway to my goal and 60 lbs doesn’t seem like anything to me. How times change…

Ask Dr. Rybicki: Basic Weight Loss Procedures

Ask Dr. Rybicki: Basic Weight Loss Procedures

Exercise is the cornerstone of weight loss. I advise patients to start slow and develop an exercise program that includes both core strengthening and aerobic exercise. I recommend that they work their way up to aerobic exercise for a period of 30 to 40 minutes three times a week. Common examples of aerobic exercise include running on a treadmill, riding an exercise bicycle, or using elliptical trainers.

Weekly Weigh-In: 10.6 lbs Lost

Weekly Weigh-In: 10.6 lbs Lost

I finally broke the 300 lb plateau I’ve had since I started this blog. I’m in the 200’s now. It was time for my weekly weigh-in this morning and although I felt confident that I would drop weight, I was not expecting to be down a staggering 10.6 lbs this week! That’s right! I dropped down below 300 lbs for the first time in many, many years. I don’t quite know how to react except to keep on doing what I am doing so that I can reach my goals each week.

Introducing A Former Fat Man

Introducing A Former Fat Man

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Frank Cruz a former fat man who’s almost completely unleashed. Those cold chains of confinement are weakening little by little. I have been tied down and boxed in for many years. Consumed with exaggerated amounts of food, my stomach was a lot like a bottomless pit. I [...]

Working Out in Tampa Bay

I’ve been working out mostly in Tampa Bay for the past couple of years. I think it’s a great place to get in shape while getting a nice tan. The weather is usually perfect for a workout. And if you are like me and like to sweat, then the Tampa heat will definitely get you [...]

“Easy, Effortless and Miraculous Weight Loss – Guaranteed!” – Yeah Right!

“Easy, Effortless and Miraculous Weight Loss – Guaranteed!” – Yeah Right!

According the FDA, approximately 50 billion Americans will go on a diet this year, spending an estimated $30 billion dollars on weight loss programs and products. I don’t need to break out my trusty, dusty calculator to know that I have contributed significantly to that staggering figure. Diet centers, gym memberships, pills, teas, [...]

Ideal Body Weight – Fantasy vs. Reality

Ideal Body Weight – Fantasy vs. Reality

A doctor once told me that for my height, I should weigh between 124 and 138 lbs. I laughed right in his face. That seemed to upset him, so he went on to preach about the dangers of obesity, and how the excess weight I was carrying around was destroying my body. I [...]

The show picks up right where it left off last week with Mike waiting to be weighed in. Remember if he loses 9 pounds or more all players stay for another week, or a player from each team goes home. Well Mike is becoming the really big champion here as he lost 11 pounds and saved everyone.

The Biggest Loser Couples Season 7, Episode 7 Video Recap with Pete Thomas

Right at the start of the show, Alison met everyone on their way to the gym for their morning workout. She had another pop challenge for them. This is new this year and looks like it just started last week. When you looked, the gym was padlocked with two chains around the doors and one lock on each chain. The entire group working as teams would have to hike up a hill near the gym, select one key from a board with I’d say over 50 keys, come back down the hill and see if the key you selected worked. Now, if the key opened the padlock, that team would get full use of the gym for the week. Any team that did not find the key were locked out of the gym and had to work out outside instead of using the machines. After much up and down the hill eventually the pink team (made up of mother and daughter Helen and Shanon) and the brown team(made up of father and son Ron and Mike) found the keys to open the locks and won the right to work out in the gym.

The Biggest Loser Couples Season 7, Episode 6 Video Recap with Pete Thomas

This night starts the 100th episode of The Biggest Loser, where over 15,000 pounds have been lost to date. This is just the 7th season and that’s some serious weight loss.

The episode started with the brown team taking a look at why their loss kinda slowed down and that busting 10,000 a day may have mixed their metabolism up. Later they were talking to Bob and found out that they needed to actually eat more to kick the metabolism in.

The Biggest Loser Couples Season 7, Episode 5 Video Recap with Pete Thomas

There were some that did wonderful, like Sione of the blue team and Carla of the Silver, and there were some that did not do well at home. They were weighed in right away to see how they did while working out at home and that was their starting weight for the team weigh-in at the end of a week’s stay. Sione won immunity since he lost the biggest percent of weight while working out at home.

The Biggest Loser Couples Season 7, Episode 4 Video Recap with Pete Thomas

Ok, last night the group was working on being reunited with the partner that went home. Looking back, the 1st week all the teams split up and one member went home while the other member stayed at the ranch. The group that was at the ranch had Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels as trainers to whip their bodies back in shape. All of those that went home had to work out with the same effort as those on the ranch.

The Biggest Loser Couples Season 7, Episode 3 Video Recap with Pete Thomas

The Biggest Loser Couples Season 7, Episode 3 Video Recap with Pete Thomas

The one thing that got most of the rest of the players was the temptation this week, where each person was offered pizza, fried chicken nuggets, tacos and cupcakes to consume. The players at home were given the same challenge and the team that devoured the most calories was offered a trip back home to workout with their partner trained by Bob Harper. Well, Mandi ate a piece of pizza to try to get home and see her kids. All the other teams at the ranch ate nothing. The game switches to the player at home and Sione of the blue team pounded down two pieces of pizza and a cupcake to take the lead. Now Joelle’s partner Carla ate over 2000 calories of junk food and they won the challenge. Bob went to Detroit and trained both of the gray team. While there Carla gave a ton of attitude and challenged Joelle that she just wasn’t doing her part. From my point, she doesn’t seem motivated enough for the show.

The Biggest Loser Couples Season 7, Episode 2 Video Recap with Pete Thomas

This week on The Biggest Loser the whole group was challenged by some mind games. Last week you remember that the contestants were split up where one team member stayed and the other went home. The group that went home didn’t have the luxury of just kicking back while the teammate that stayed had to workout. No, each one had to work hard at home because there was a chance that they get back after 30 days. You could see right away that some took this as a very important part of the experience and decided to get busy right away. Others when home and fell into the same trap even while the cameras were still rolling.

Master List of Unconventional Benefits of Weight Loss

Master List of Unconventional Benefits of Weight Loss

This post was inspired by Dr. Kal’s previous post Decrease your Likelihood of Being Hit by a Meteor which I found through The Man Page’s The Manival 8th Edition.  I thought it might be entertaining to ‘poke’ some fun at the seriousness of weight loss.
We all know at least one or many of the ‘”Conventional” [...]

7 Reasons You’re Fat and Why You’ll Probably Stay Fat

7 Reasons You’re Fat and Why You’ll Probably Stay Fat

We fat people are a minority. We are looked upon as different. Kids look at us differently. Adults look at us differently. Its a sad fact that people are judged on their appearance in today’s modern society, even after all the talks of “it’s what’s on the inside that counts.” Today I’m going to give [...]

Super Bowl Party Versus New Year’s Resolution

Okay, the Super Bowl is set. Israel’s New York Football Giants versus the undefeated and unstoppable New England Patriots. I don’t think the Giants have a chance, but I didn’t think they could beat the Buccaneers, the Cowboys, or the Packers.
Now that you know who is in the Super Bowl, you need to [...]

Does My Appendix Weigh 6 Pounds?

I doubt it does, since it’s such a tiny insignificant part of the human body. This is a continuation of yesterdays post about my come back from appendicitis. I had to stay an extra day in the hospital just because my blood was still a bit contaminated. It took me a couple of days, but [...]

I have come to the conclusion that I may be subconsciously afraid of weighing under 300 lbs. It’s been a while since I weighed under that elusive number. I have actually lost track of how long it’s been, but I know it’s been a long time. I started realizing this yesterday when I sat down [...]

Tipping the Scales: 3 lbs. Lost this Week

I am not happy with this weigh-in. Last week I said I would lose 5 lbs for this weigh-in, but failed. I hate failing. I feel like a failure now. Losing 3 lbs wasn’t enough.
I have that dubious goal of being under 300 lbs by November 1st, which now leaves me with 15 days [...]

Don’t Ignore the Man Boobs on My Chest

Yes, that’s right. I have man boobs. I may not be proud of them, but I have enough guts to show them off to the world. The only reason I am displaying my man boobs is because I want to feel pressured into losing them. I have had my man boobs, or moobs, for a [...]
