I Bought a Recumbent Bike

Recumbent Bike

I just purchased a recumbent bike from Wal-Mart. It’s the a Stamina Model # 4755. I know it’s not the best quality but I think it will fulfill its purpose for now. Plus it was only $108 bucks. It’s pretty cool and gets the job done for now. I just felt like I needed to have a back up machine for when I couldn’t run on the treadmill. There are days when I just can’t go all out on the treadmill. Now I can perform some HIIT on the bike. It’s supposed to only hold up to 250 lbs. Ha! It held me up good (300+ lbs). It makes no noise and actually gives me a good workout. I know that I will be getting a good workout from it. So will my wife.

My Sunday was a good one. It was a nice day outside: Sunny and windy. So the family went to the park and it was great. We ran around, we played tennis, and we enjoyed ourselves. I managed to work my abs out too. When we got back home my wife made a delicious egg, chicken, and vegetable omelet for dinner that satisfied every craving I had today. My mouth just watered a little thinking of it. It’s late and I need to sleep. That’s all I got in me for today.

  1. Like the blog, keep it up! Great work.

  2. Don’t you find it ironic that a weight loss aid has a weight limit?

Ironic!!! When I flipped through the manual and saw that it only help 250 lbs I told my wife, “Oh well, its gonna need to hold me up.” I wasnt shocked, but I didnt expect it to be such a low number.

Yeah this is a great idea for a blog, maybe having the “world” or at least a little part of the internet watching will keep you motivated!

Good luck with your regime! and your blog ;-).

  4. Can’t beat that price. Plus, since its Wal-mart, if it sucks or breaks you can return it no problem.

    Good price for the bike!!!

For some reason I always feel akward riding these kind of bikes. I know that they are are a great workout, not only for cardio, but for your legs as well.

Next time you are on it, point your toes down more during the downward rotation…almost like you are pusing them right to the ground…you will feel more of a burn in your calves…also play around with the positioning of your feet. Placing them in a “v shape”…heels more together and toes away from your body will work your inner thighs more.

Yep. Been there, done that. I got my calf work out inthe first night I got the bike. lol. I will try those other positions and will tell my wife about it too. BTW, Friday is D DAY!

I bought the Stamina model before the pulse reader one in 2004 (October). I lost 90 pounds using it the first year, every other day, 30 minutes a day.LOL I still have it & it works great! I have never replaced the batteries in all this time. It’s been great! A lot quieter than the treadmill.

I hope all goes well for you & your wife using your bike!

My diet was pretty much normal. I did give up pop though & began drinking water & two – four cups of green tea a day. I cut out carbs the first three weeks (white starches & white pasta/rice). It takes about 12 weeks for your body to recognize that you are losing weight so peple won’t see much difference until the metabolic rate is continually up instead of on the low side. I stopped eating two eggs for breakfast & began eating one.

What I have learned is that you need to eat what you burn off in a day. (24 hour period) Eating meat & veggies, oranges (raw fruit) & nuts worked best for me. The best trick I know to fool my hunger is to eat around 5-6 nuts when hunger strikes. I used plain, cheap peanuts.:-) I like the recumbent bike better than walking for hunger pains. I burn more calories on the bike plus tone up & the bike doesn’t make me as hungry as walking does.

I walk the treadmill for 30 minutes a day, every other day & the bike for 30 minutes a day on the same days then on the other days I do 20 minutes each on both equipment. Walking helps me feel more rejuvenated & the bike builds my tone/shape up.

I rest on Saturday & Sunday.

If you hit a plateau, you need to reduce carbs again & up your protein a bit. I began only eating two meals a day because I’m a stay at home Mom & quite frankly when you lose so much weight, your stomach shrinks & your hunger shrinks with it.

    Hope this helps.:-)
